Browns QB Deshaun Watson had a second tear of his Achilles and underwent surgery yesterday. With only eight months until the start of the 2025 season, Watson's availability for 2025 is now in jeopardy.
Adam Schefter of ESPN: "Browns QB Deshaun Watson underwent surgery Thursday after tearing his Achilles again, and his status for the 2025 season is now in jeopardy, per league sources.
Watson met Thursday with Dr. Robert Anderson before undergoing the surgery.
Watson tore his right Achilles tendon Oct. 20, marking the second straight year his season ended because of injury."
This could signal the end of Watson's time in Cleveland.
Despite his massive contract, they could let him go after the 2025 season.
Holding the second overall pick in this year's draft, the Browns will likely take a deep look at the QB class including Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and Miami's Cameron Ward to decide if they should draft their future QB now.
Watson was on pace to have one of the worst QB seasons in history before his first Achilles tear in October, so this isn't exactly bad news for weapons like WR Jerry Jeudy is the Browns invest in a new QB (or a young QB).
