Packers WR Christian Watson is believed to have torn his right ACL and suffered additional damage to the leg, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
The injury obviously ends Watson's season and elevates the WRs behind him on the depth chart. Dontayvion Wicks gets the most notable playing-time help for the playoff-opening trip to Philadelphia.
Malik Heath finished third among Green Bay WRs in playing time for Sunday's loss to Chicago, with Bo Melton trailing him.
The timing of the injury challenges the start of Watson's 2025. It also challenges the effectiveness of the speed-driven WR for then entire season.
Watson had already struggled with injuries through his first three seasons, though he set a career-high by appearing in 15 games this season.
He seemed to overcome the hamstring issues of his first two NFL campaigns. But he now heads into the final year of his rookie contract with his greatest physical challenge to date.
We'll have to watch updates on Watson's status throughout the offseason, but expect him to enter 2025 as no more than a deep bench option.
Unfortunately, there's not much to do with him in dynasty right now besides stash and wait.
Perhaps Watson can become a cheap "buy" as the regular season approaches if his recovery's going well and his market price stays low.
Jayden Reed, Wicks, Romeo Doubs, and Malik Heath are all set to remain under contract with the Packers through at least 2025.
Watson's likely limitation adds upside to all four as best-ball picks ahead of the 2025 fantasy football season.
We'll see if Green Bay makes other moves at the position.
Watson will make for a high-risk option at any ADP.
Don't be surprised if he lingers to the end of early 2025 drafting, though, which would obviously cut well into that risk and make him worth at least an occasional look.
Justin Fields has proved that when he's on the field, so is big fantasy upside. Drafters are underrating the new Jets QB. So he leads this list of five high-ceiling fantasy football sleepers.
