Falcons QB Michael Penix Jr. proved no better than OK in his first NFL start Sunday. He went 18-of-27 passing for 202 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT. He also took no sacks in a run-heavy, lopsided win that saw the defense score twice.
What They're Saying
HC Raheem Morris said after the game that Penix played "near flawless football."

Morris said Penix should have thrown the ball away that wound up as his lone INT. But the pass looked plenty catchable for TE Kyle Pitts.
Penix saw four of his first five attempts fall incomplete but then connected on 17 of 22 the rest of the way.
It's also worth noting that WR Drake London left in the middle of the second half with a hamstring injury. The team doesn't appear to be worried, but losing the No. 1 WR for any segment isn't going to help passing volume.
Penix will likely need to throw the ball more in a Week 17 visit to Washington. Expect him to land near the bottom of QB2 territory in our rankings for that one.
If your league plays through Week 18, then a home date with Carolina that week could be intriguing for certain formats.
Penix, of course, would need to give us reason next week to believe in his upside for that one.
