Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes completed 28 of 41 attempts for 260 yards and 1 score in Saturday's win over Houston. He added a 5-33-1 rushing line.
So much for Mahomes’ high-ankle sprain. He scored the game’s first TD on a 15-yard scramble through the teeth of Houston’s defense. Mahomes took only one sack on the day and made it through without a setback.
"Once I got running I saw the end zone and just tried to get up in the air and get in the end zone," he said via ESPN. "It wasn't like setting a tone or anything like that. I just tried to play football at the end of the day."
Mahomes’ lone passing TD went to Xavier Worthy, who led the Chiefs with 11 targets, 7 grabs, and 65 yards. Marquise Brown made his 2024 debut and saw a surprising 8 targets, catching 5 for 45 yards.
Meanwhile, Travis Kelce remained quiet with 5 catches for 30 yards. He’s now been held under 50 yards in three straight.
Mahomes quickly turns to Week 17, as he’ll play on Christmas Day. He’ll face a Steelers pass defense that might be without top CB Joey Porter Jr. Mahomes will likely project as a fringe QB1 for that matchup.
