Lions DT Alim McNeill left Sunday's loss to the Bills with a right knee injury. HC Dan Campbell said after the game that it "could be season-ending," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
McNeill is a big loss for the Detroit D-line. He ranks ninth in Pro Football Focus defensive grade among 142 interior linemen who have played at least 150 snaps.
McNeill also ranks second among Lions in total pressures (40), trailing only Aidan Hutchinson -- who has, of course, been out since Week 6.
McNeill's injury plus plenty of other losses in the Detroit defense make it a far less intimidating matchup for the Bears and 49ers the next couple of weeks.
The mid-December timing of the injury is likely to challenge McNeill's ability to start 2025 on time.
We'll watch for offseason updates on his recovery.
McNeill just signed a big-money extension in mid-October that runs through 2028.
