Lions WR Tim Patrick followed his 2-TD Week 14 with another TD among 4 receptions for 30 yards in Sunday's loss to the Bills. His 8 targets marked a second straight week of setting a season high in that category, and Patrick has caught 4+ passes in three of his past four games.
Patrick has become the clear No. 3 WR for Detroit, behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. But he has benefited the past two weeks from elevated passing volume.
Goff threw a season-high 59 passes against the Bills in Week 15. His 41 attempts vs. Green Bay the week before were his second-most of the year at the time.
That means target shares of 17% and 13.6% for Patrick the past two weeks -- 15% combined for that span.
That's a nice level of involvement, especially in one of the league's most efficient offenses. But it's not enough to make him a good weekly fantasy option.
The next two weeks hold visits to Chicago and San Francisco, a pair of offenses that aren't running nearly as hot as Buffalo's -- and thus don't appear likely to push passing volume as much.
Detroit attempted 34 passes vs. 33 rushes in its Week 13 win over the Bears.
The 49ers have faced the league's second-lowest pass rate vs. expectation for the season.
