The Texans have this week opened the 21-day practice window for LB Christian Harris. The starting LB has been out since August with a calf injury that originated back in July.
What They're Saying
HC Demeco Ryans: “Christian has done an outstanding job of working off to the side and our strength and conditioning staff, sports performance staff has done a great job of working with Christian. Just seeing him back out and moving around, he looks like himself physically and it is just a matter of missing a lot of football and just a matter of him getting back in and getting those mental reps. Nothing can help you do football except playing football. So, he just has to get out there and get those physical reps of hearing a call, getting lined up. But, physically, he looks like he is in a really good spot."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Houston's intended lead duo at LB was Harris and Azeez Al-Shaair.
Henry To'oTo'o has spent nearly the whole season as a full-timer in Harris' place. But the team is now missing Al-Shaair for the next three weeks thanks to his suspension.
Neville Hewitt replaced Al-Shaair earlier this year when the starter dealt with a knee injury. We'll see exactly how Houston plans to align its LBs over the next three games.
Harris makes for a shaky Week 15 bet. The Texans likely don't yet know just how much he'll be ready to play right away. And the last time Harris tried to return, he immediately aggravated the calf injury.
That should be much less of a concern after the long layoff, a clear indication Houston wanted to get him back to full health.
Waiver Wire Targets
Harris is stashable right now in deeper IDP leagues. If he can get back near full duty in Week 15, we might be able to start him over the final two fantasy weeks.
To'oTo'o's role will be interesting to watch. If Harris steps back into that spot, we could see Harris and Hewitt run as the top two LBs over the next few weeks.
If the Texans indicate Hewitt will fill Al-Shaair's spot, then he'll be worth a look on the Week 15 waiver wire -- and potentially beyond.
