The Giants have ruled LB Bobby Okereke out for Sunday's game against the Saints because of a back injury. HC Brian Daboll said earlier this week that he hoped Okereke would be ready for the game, so it doesn't seem like a long-term issue. But Okereke missed all three practice days. His absence should leave Micah McFadden and rookie Darius Muasau as the top two off-ball LBs vs. New Orleans.
McFadden's been in the starting lineup since Week 2, but he hasn't played more than 81% of snaps in a game this season.
Okereke's absence should boost McFadden to a full-time role as the lead LB. And that would come against a Saints offense supplying the ninth-most LB fantasy points per game.
McFadden brings cross-category upside and has jumped into the top 20 of our Week 14 LB rankings.
Muasau now sits in LB4 range, with uncertain playing time and little proven production.
McFadden's well worth the pickup in IDP leagues ahead of Sunday's game -- even if you're just stashing him and not in position to play him this week.
Although Okereke's back injury doesn't appear serious, we obviously don't yet know his status for Week 15.
