The Athletic's Dianna Russini hears that it's "increasingly likely" that Jets QB Aaron Rodgers will be placed on IR or benched over the next few weeks. Russini adds that "no decisions have been made yet." But it's become clear over the last month that Rodgers has no future with the Jets beyond 2024, so it wouldn't be shocking to see the team pull the plug early.
Fantasy teams who have been relying on Rodgers should start lining up a backup option for the rest of the season. Guys like Drake Maye and Jameis Winston are still available in well over 50% of fantasy leagues.
QB Tyrod Taylor would take over as the Jets' starter if Rodgers is yanked. Taylor is a capable passer with some rushing ability. He'd at least be in the QB2 mix and could be worth a speculative stash in superflex leagues right now.
Taylor would be a downgrade for WRs Garrett Wilson and Davante Adams -- but not a disaster. Those guys would still be startable in fantasy.
