Browns RB Nick Chubb managed just 11 carries for 50 yards in Sunday's lopsided loss to the Saints. Chubb got the ball four times on Cleveland's first possession alone but hit halftime with only 6 rushes for 19 yards.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Cleveland was in this game until the fourth quarter. A TD in the middle of the third quarter tied it, but then New Orleans added three more scores to the Browns' zero.
Chubb wound up with a solid 4.5 yards per carry, easily his best rate through four appearances this season. But getting just 11 carries against one of the league's worst run defenses looked bad in several ways.
- Cleveland doesn't get a better RB scoring matchup the rest of the way.
- The Browns aren't likely to find another opponent less likely to rack up points heading in than New Orleans, which averaged just 17 points per game over the eight weeks leading to Sunday's game.
- Chubb got only 11 of 18 RB carries for the contest, with Jerome Ford claiming five and Pierre Strong Jr. two. Chubb's lack of receiving work makes his carry share even more important.
- If the Browns are capable of losing by 21 to this team, that doesn't bode well for their chances of staying in games to support rushing volume going forward.
It's easy to root for Chubb in his return from last year's nasty knee injury. But it's just as difficult to envision him making a fantasy impact the rest of the way.
That certainly doesn't make him a drop across formats. But if you're in a position where you're weighing Chubb against waiver options, he'll likely be OK to dump.
