The Panthers are trading WR Jonathan Mingo to the Cowboys. Dallas is sending a fourth-round 2025 pick for Mingo and a seventh-rounder.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero: "Jerry Jones said this morning the Cowboys are landing a player they were high on in the draft process. It's Jonathan Mingo, who went 39th overall to Carolina in 2023 and had 43 catches as a rookie last season."
Mingo also has just 12 catches through nine games of his second season. That's good for seventh on one of the league's worst offenses. Mingo trails:
Giving three rounds of draft position in 2025 looks like an overpay for Mingo. But it also probably indicates that Dallas will give him a chance at winning a significant offensive role.
We'll see where that goes ... especially with Cooper Rush at QB for at least the next four games.
WR Brandin Cooks is eligible to come off IR this week. We'll see what happens on that front. Cooks wasn't delivering fantasy relevance before the knee infection set in, though. Mingo's arrival -- and the Dak Prescott injury -- won't help.
Mingo's low standing in the 2024 Carolina passing game means no significant impact on values there.
