Panthers WR Diontae Johnson has been traded to the Baltimore Ravens. The move cost the Ravens very little swapping a 2025 5th round pick to the panthers for Johnson and a 2025 6th round pick. Johnson adds another weapon for Lamar Jackson, but it is a less than stellar landing spot for Johnson's fantasy potential this season.
Adam Schefter from ESPN: "Trade: Carolina is sending wide receiver Diontae Johnson to the Baltimore Ravens, sources tell ESPN. Comp update: It’s a pick flop, with the Panthers getting a 5th-round pick for Diontae Johnson and a 6th, per sources."
Johnson will now have played for three teams within the past 10 months, two of which were in the AFC North (Steelers and Ravens).
He had some spike games with Andy Dalton at QB, with three WR1 games. Though it is a QB upgrade to Jackson, the focus on rushing for the Ravens along with splitting targets with Zay Flowers, Mark Andrews, Isaiah Likely, etc, lowers Johnson's fantasy potential this year and beyond.
The Ravens have the ninth fewest passing attempts per game at 29.6.
It was a great move for the real Ravens, but just doesn't move the needle in fantasy.
Zay Flowers takes the biggest hit as some of his target share likely will shift to Johnson when he gets up to speed.
