Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf is considered "week to week" with a Grade 1 MCL sprain suffered in the Week 7 win over the Falcons, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Seattle gets the Bills and Rams the next two weeks before a Week 10 bye, so it's possible we don't see Metcalf again until Week 11.
Metcalf is worth keeping stashed in all fantasy leagues, but owners should at least plan on being without him for Week 8. We'll see about Week 9.
Metcalf leaves behind 8.7 targets per game on a 21.8% share. We've seen the Seahawks shift their pass rate down a bit the last two weeks, and perhaps they lean even more toward the run without Metcalf. But there's still a lot of extra opportunity now for WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba, WR Tyler Lockett, and even TE Noah Fant.
WR Jake Bobo figures to soak up the majority of Metcalf's snaps and could be in play in deep fantasy leagues. Bobo posted a 4-61-1 line on 5 targets (20.8% share) when Metcalf missed the Week 7 game against the Cardinals last year. Unfortunately, this weekend brings a matchup against the Bills' eighth-ranked WR defense.
Metcalf's absence obviously dings QB Geno Smith's fantasy stock. He'll be a shaky QB1 play against Buffalo.
