Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy caught just three balls for 19 yards in Sunday's win over the 49ers. QB Patrick Mahomes managed only 154 yards on 16-of-27 passing, with 0 TDs and 2 INTs. Worthy was one of just four Chiefs to catch more than one pass. Mahomes narrowly missed the rookie for what would have been a 71-yard TD on the second play of the third quarter, though. The QB not overthrowing Worthy on that one would have made the wideout's week look much different.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Worthy drew a team-high 8 targets for the game. That beat Travis Kelce by three, beat everyone else by at least four, and constituted 29.6% of Mahomes' total pass attempts.
That makes three straight games Worthy has led Chiefs WRs in routes, starting with Rashee Rice's injury game. It's also the second straight week that Worthy has set a personal high in targets.
His 6 targets in the Week 5 win at New Orleans ranked just third on the team and accounted for a 15.4% target share. And the rookie might have benefited from WR JuJu Smith-Schuster leaving early against the 49ers with a hamstring injury.
But Worthy also might simply be in for a larger share coming out of the bye. That would line up with rookie WRs traditionally performing better over the second half of the season.
If Worthy even stays in contention for weekly target leads, he'll spend plenty of time helping fantasy lineups the rest of the way.
Kansas City gets upside matchups at Las Vegas and Tampa Bay the next two weeks, before tougher spots against Denver and at Buffalo.
Worthy's schedule beyond that looks pretty good by our adjusted fantasy points allowed.
