Giants rookie RB Tyrone Tracy took over the backfield in the second game without starter Devin Singletary. Tracy split Week 5 work with Eric Gray early before Gray lost a fumble at the goal line. in Sunday night's loss to the Bengals, however, he played 66 snaps to just 14 for Gray. Tracy claimed 17 of the team's 20 RB carries and all of the RB targets. His 6 targets ranked third on the team and produced a 6-57 receiving line.
Tracy managed just 2.9 yards per rush on his 17 carries but punched in a 1-yard TD for his first NFL score.
His receptions and receiving yards each tied WR Darius Slayton for the team lead.
Singletary is nearing a return from his groin injury. He managed limited practices all three days this week and initially carried a "questionable" tag for the game before being downgraded.
We'll see about Singletary's status for a Week 7 home date with the Eagles. And then we'll see how the rookie fits with a healthy Singletary.
I'd bet on Tracy returning to a complementary role, though larger than he had before Singletary went down.
Consider the rookie a stash while this backfield sorts out -- and probably not a fantasy starter in Singletary's return game.
