Cardinals RB James Conner got just 9 carries and 1 target in Sunday's loss to the Lions. He turned those limited opportunities into a mere 17 rushing yards and an 8-yard catch.
Chalk this up as a down game rather than the start of a worrisome trend for Conner. Arizona split another 4 carries between Emari Demercado and rookie Trey Benson. But Conner dominated playing time at the position.
His 44 snaps nearly quadrupled Demercado's playing time. Conner's 20 pass routes did quadruple Demercado's 5. And Benson only got onto the field for his two rushes.
Sunday's outing followed a productive first two weeks for Conner, who should remain a quality starting option for a Week 4 home date with Washington.
Visits to San Francisco and Green Bay look tougher the following two weeks.
