Saints QB Derek Carr threw for just 142 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles, with 1 TD and 1 INT. He went just 14-of-25 passing as New Orleans ran 28 times vs. 27 dropbacks.
That 56% completion rate marked a significant dip vs. Carr's 76.9% rate over the first two weeks. He also came way down on yards per attempt and TD rate.
We all certainly expected Carr to fall from the unreal efficiency of the first two weeks. But he and the New Orleans offense on whole went from looking like the league's best offense at Dallas to struggling at home against what had been a scuffling Philly D.
Carr did narrowly miss hitting WR Rashid Shaheed for what would have been a 40-yard TD in the second quarter. But he also didn't look good overall.
The Saints now visit Atlanta and Kansas City the next two weeks.
The Falcons have looked better so far on defense than last year. And the Chiefs are capable of playing tough D, especially at home.
After looking like he was becoming a fantasy-starter option, Carr figures to land outside our top 12 the next two weeks.
The passing volume improved for Saints pass catchers in the team's first non-lopsided outcome of the year. But it'll need to keep shifting to support WRs Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed on a regular basis.
New Orleans still dropped back on just 48.2% of offensive plays against the Eagles, a rate that would sit at the bottom of the league just about any year.
