Chargers Edge Joey Bosa left after the first defensive play Sunday against the Steelers. He returned later in the quarter but was gone again before the end of the quarter. The team initially called him questionable to return with a hip injury before ruling Bosa out for the game.
That's the same injury that landed Bosa on the injury report this week and limited his Wednesday and Thursday practices. But he put in a full workout Friday, didn't appear on the week's final injury report, and told reporters he was ready for a "long and intense game."
Obviously, tweaks happen when players arrive with preceding issues, but there was no indication Bosa was at elevated risk in this one.
You can bet we'll be more cautious when next he takes the field. We'll see how this practice week goes ahead of a Week 4 home date with the Chiefs.
Edge Tuli Tuipulotu stands to benefit if Bosa misses further time or returns in a limited capacity.
Tuipulotu climbed from 45% playing time in Week 1 to 65% in Week 2, a game that saw Bosa play just 14 snaps.
Tuipulotu's a solid stash in deeper leagues.
The Chargers' team D won't make for an attractive Week 4 play regardless of Bosa's status. L.A. then gets a Week 5 bye, which could factor into the Week 4 plan for Bosa.
