Saints QB Derek Carr delivered a solid stat line in Sunday's beatdown of the Cowboys: 243 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT, and a 1-yard rushing score on his only attempt. He went just 11-of-16 passing for the game and now has just 39 total pass attempts through two victories.
It's been a surprising offensive start for the Saints. The 47 points against the Panthers was one thing. Carolina has opened its season making a strong case for being the worst team in the league.
But Sunday found the Saints going to Dallas and running up 44 on a Cowboys defense that ranked among the league's best in 2023 and dominated the Browns in Week 1.
Carr's efficiency and passing volume through two games suggest unsustainable production. But the team is sure to see many tighter games going forward and thus likely much more passing volume.
Carr will not maintain his current efficiency, which includes 11.4 yards per pass attempt and a 12.8% passing-TD rate.
But that hyper-efficiency and the overall strength of his offense (under a new OC) through two weeks are obviously encouraging.
Carr could flirt with starter territory in our QB rankings for matchups with the Eagles and Falcons the next two weeks and looks like he should be rostered in basically any leagues of 10+ teams.
