The Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott agreed to a 4-year deal worth $240 million with $231 million guaranteed. Prescott passes Packers QB Jordan Love as the highest-paid player in NFL history. The contract was agreed upon shortly before the Week 1 Sunday games starting, locking Prescott in as the Cowboys starting QB for the foreseeable future.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com: "The Cowboys and QB Dak Prescott have a deal! He gets a 4-year deal worth a record $240M(!) with $231M guaranteed. Owner Jerry Jones and agent Todd France closed it out. The NFL’s biggest question answered."
This locks in both Prescott and WR CeeDee Lamb onto the Cowboys for the long term.
The Cowboys paid the price of waiting to sign Prescott to the extension, having to one-up the deal Love and the Packers made a few weeks ago.
Prescott had a career season last year with the Cowboys being fourth in the league in passing over expected. The offense should continue to run through Prescott this year and beyond.
Expect the offense to continue rolling through Prescott and the pass along with Lamb for the next few years, locking both as solid fantasy starters moving forward.
