Texans RB Joe Mixon is "fully healthy" for Week 1, according to insider Aaron Wilson. Mixon missed some time in August and didn't play in the preseason due to a quad injury. But he's been back on the field for a couple of weeks now and will be ready for a full workload on Sunday vs. the Colts.
HC Demeco Ryans on Mixon: “Joe will be doing what he’s done his entire career. I don’t think you’ll see anything different. He’s a strong, physical back. He’s going to get yards. So, I’m excited about seeing Joe run the ball behind our offensive line.”
Mixon was out-of-sight, out-of-mind for much of August but remains a strong fantasy bet this season. He's set for strong touch volume in what should be a top-10 offense under sophomore QB C.J. Stroud.
The Texans gave Mixon a three-year, $27 million extension after acquiring him from Cincinnati, so they're committed to him as a feature back. Wilson confirms that Mixon "is expected to have a heavy workload as a runner and receiver out of the backfield."
He sits 13th in our season-long RB rankings and 14th in the Week 1 RB Rankings.
