The Saints on Tuesday activated TE Juwan Johnson from the physically unable to perform list. He had foot surgery in June and had been rehabbing since. But Johnson returns to the field with more than two weeks to prepare for the regular-season opener.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
We'll see whether Johnson's ready for Week 1, but the timing of his return indicates he should be available for at least a limited role.
Johnson saw roughly 70-75% snap share when healthy last season, though his role fluctuated some within that. His absence this summer has left room for TE Foster Moreau to potentially claim a larger share.
New Orleans also imported OC Klint Kubiak this offseason, so Johnson has missed work in the new offensive system.
Johnson topped 3 receptions in a game just four times last season and looks unlikely to make a significant impact in typical redraft leagues.
Other Winners & Losers
Moreau's a clear loser for Johnson returning ahead of the regular season. We'll see how they fit together in the new offense.
Taysom Hill might seem like a potential loser, but he's far from a traditional TE. Throw in that new offensive scheme, and we don't yet know how he and Johnson co-exist.
If Hill's going to play a significant role, it should come with or without Johnson in the lineup.
Projected ADP Movement
Expect Johnson's late-round best ball ADP. Beware of it climbing beyond where you should be interested. He's no more than a third TE in most formats.
