The Falcons won't play QB Kirk Cousins at all in the preseason, but don't worry. Cousins says he'll line up behind center for the regular-season opener.
Cousins, in a sideline interview during the preseason opener: "I'll be ready to go Week 1. I've been going full speed now for all of camp, just getting better every week."
Falcons QBs coach T.J. Yates on Cousins' performance in joint practices with the Dolphins: "He looked good. He was operating the offense very well. Kind of picking up where he left off from our previous training-camp practices, where he’s been super, super efficient."
This obviously isn't a surprising revelation. Cousins got cleared for the start of training camp, and there's been no indication of any setbacks.
Of course, it's nice to get confirmation as we head into the busiest section of fantasy football draft season.
There's risk to counting on Cousins off the October Achilles' tear and with a new team. But Atlanta committed big money to him in the offseason. And he's got plenty of talent around.
Cousins has stayed around his current QB18 ADP for a while. I don't see any reason for that to change significantly, unless anyone ahead of him at the position gets hurt.
He's a fine shot to take as your QB2, but I wouldn't bet on Cousins being a fantasy difference maker this season.
Caleb Williams keeps getting help in Chicago. But another QB might have come out of the draft as a sleeper. And we've got five high-ceiling RBs to target LATE in your drafts.
