Bears RB D'Andre Swift has been a camp standout, particularly in the passing game, according to The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain.
Passing Game Coordinator Thomas Brown: “I think the short-area quickness … but also his natural ball skills and being able to understand how to adjust to the ball in the air. I think he can run the entire route tree, he’s not a typical running back running routes, being able to try and find ways to get him the ball.”
RBs Coach Chad Morton: “He’s got great hand-eye coordination. He’s really smart. He knows how to read man, zone. He’s just very detailed. He knows where to be at the right time, knows spacing very well. Lot of guys can’t read zone very well and get too close to the defender. He just understands spacing. He’s just a smart kid. He works his butt off, too. He’s just all business.”
LB T.J. Edwards: “I mean, he’s damn near a receiver. ... He’s really dynamic, he’s quick and he has really good hands, so he makes it tough on you, for sure.”
Swift caught a career-low 39 balls in Philadelphia last year. Blame QB Jalen Hurts and a scheme that hasn't tended to involve the RBs in the passing game much.
Over his first three NFL seasons in Detroit, Swift averaged 3.9 catches and 30 receiving yards per game. He faces tougher target competition in Chicago than he did on those Lions teams. But Swift has the upside to approach that level of receiving production this season.
He's a fine value at his RB20 PPR ADP.
Burden failed to match massive expectations in 2024 -- and then joined a Bears squad that's loaded at pass catcher. Still, his overall profile suggests you shouldn't underestimate his dynasty potential.
