Saints LB Demario Davis hurt a hamstring in position drills Wednesday and sat out the team portion of practice, NOLA.com's Matthew Paras reports. The team gave no further details on how long Davis might be out.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Davis heads into his age-35 season, but he showed no signs of slowing down last year. He played in 17 games for the second straight season and has missed just one game across his 12-year career.
Davis also tallied the second-most total tackles of his career last year, matched his career high in sacks (6.5, from the year before), and topped 10 tackles for loss for the fifth time.
Davis also posted the highest Pro Football Reference Approximate Value of his career, their "attempt" to value player seasons across positions.
This is the right time of year to get your hamstring injury, if you're going to have one. We'll see how significant it winds up being.
Davis has been a perennial value through most of his New Orleans stint. If this injury gets out of the way before the regular season, then Davis will make for a strong LB3-4 selection in your IDP drafts.
Other Winners & Losers
If Davis were to miss regular-season time, Pete Werner would likely lead New Orleans LBs in playing time. Willie Gay Jr. looks like the next guy up, though a few others could compete for playing time.
