28-year old Panthers RB Rashaad Penny has been placed on the reserve/retired list after retiring from the NFL.
Taken in the first round of the 2018 draft, Penny has been a fantasy darling for most of his career.
He spent five seasons with the Seattle Seahawks having his best year in 2021 where he rushed for 749 yards and six TDs.
Last season with the Eagles, Penny was expected to make an impact, but only rushed the ball 11 times the entire season.
Injuries plagued most of Penny's NFL career, including a torn ACL in 2019. He suffered from chronic knee and hamstring issues throughout his time in the league.
Penny had recently shared his excitement for getting back on the football field and joining the Carolina Panthers, but it appears he changed his mind and has now retired from the league.
Penny will be remembered fondly by the fantasy community for putting up the occasional monster game and being a sleeper nearly every season while he was on the Seahawks.
It is an example of how brutal the NFL can be for a talented player like Penny whose career likely would have been very different without injuries piling up over the course of his career.
