Browns RB Nick Chubb didn’t take part in OTAs or minicamp. Per The Athletic’s Zac Jackson, “it remains to be seen” if Chubb will participate in training camp. The seventh-year pro is returning from surgeries to repair meniscus, ACL, and MCL damage (left knee).
What They're Saying
Here’s one AFC personnel evaluator, via ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler:
"Even if he's lacking some explosion in the short term, he still has instincts and good feet. Hopefully that shines through and he gets his power back. He's such a good player."
There's no debating Chubb's power when healthy. His career yards after contact per attempt is an elite 3.93.
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Head to the fantasy RB rankings, and you'll see Chubb projected for 13 games. At least for now, we’re not expecting a Week 1 return.
We’ll learn more about his status in training camp, as the Browns open on July 23.
If Chubb’s unable to suit up Week 1, Cleveland will likely turn to Jerome Ford, who led the team with 204-813-4 in 2023. Veteran Kareem Hunt departed this offseason, but GM Andrew Berry added reinforcements in Nyheim Hines and D'Onta Foreman. Hines, 27, suffered an ACL/LCL tear last July.
Dynasty Impact
Chubb turns 29 in December. He enters the regular season with 1,238 career carries; 1,361 career touches.
Contending fantasy teams can ride Chubb until the wheels fall off. But those in rebuild mode would be wise to shop the veteran -- provided he flashes pre-injury form in-season.
