Nate Taylor of The Athletic believes Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is in for a "huge role" in 2024. “Pacheco should eclipse his career high of 205 rushing attempts, which he set last season,” Taylor predicted. The rationale? Kansas City’s current lack of RB depth, which includes Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Deneric Prince, and rookie Louis Rees-Zammit. That matches our current sentiment. Head to the fantasy RB rankings, and you’ll find Pacheco projected for a career-high in carries (in fewer than 17 games).
Pacheco's injury history includes a concussion, two shoulder surgeries, and a fractured finger. But the 25-year-old didn't encounter any injury setbacks this offseason.
“I had no offseason surgeries this year, Pacheco said at OTAs. “...I’m 207, 206 [pounds], around that area, feeling good. Mobile. Ready to do whatever the coach asks me to do.”
Note: That’s a few pounds under what Pacheco played at in 2023.
Despite a relatively disappointing 2023 from Kansas City’s offense, Pacheco saw 20 carries inside the ten yard-line. He scored 9 total TDs.
Add in Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy, and this unit should provide more scoring chances in 2024. The Chiefs have finished sixth or better in points in all but one of Patrick Mahomes' seasons as QB1.
As a bonus: Kansas City remains strong up front. They slotted second in our newly released offensive line rankings.
Pacheco's current Underdog ADP is 4.11 (RB11). That's an attractive price -- especially in a half-PPR format.
Barring an injury, don't expect Pacheco's ADP to dip ahead of Week 1.
Neal captured Kansas’ RB1 role as a 2021 freshman and never looked back. Can he rise just as quickly to the top of an NFL depth chart?
