Giants HC Brian Daboll has been calling plays on offense so far this offseason, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. OC Mike Kafka handled those duties over the past two years. The team hasn't officially announced the change, but it looks like it'll be Daboll at the controls this season.
What They're Saying
"I'm just complementary to Dabes, helping out with offensive drills," Kafka said of his new role. "You'll see me walking around and being an asset to the coaches and the players wherever I can. Whether it's fundamentals, technique, whether it's thoughts and ideas on routes or protections, stuff like that. So doing whatever I can to complement those guys."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
The Giants offense is coming off a disastrous season with Kafka calling plays, finishing:
- 30th in points
- 29th in yards
- 30th in yards per play
Daboll, of course, got the Giants HC job after his play-calling helped the Bills to back-to-back top-five finishes in points and yards in 2020 and 2021.
Those Bills offenses notably ranked fourth and second in situation-neutral pass rate. There's no Josh Allen in New York, but Daboll taking over would likely mean an increase in pass volume after the 2023 Giants ranked 25th in situation-neutral pass rate.
Although this still isn't a passing game to get excited about in fantasy drafts, all the pieces besides WR Malik Nabers are super cheap. QB Daniel Jones and WRs Wan'Dale Robinson, Darius Slayton, and Jalin Hyatt could wind up returning value from their late ADPs.
Rankings Movement
We bumped the Giants' projected pass rate from 55% to 56%, nudging Jones and his pass-catchers up the fantasy football rankings.
