Bengals QB Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury in Week 11 of last season. Surgery followed for the former top pick. Now, according to NFL Network’s Bridget Condon, the Bengals are comfortable with his health outlook for 2024. Note that Burrow’s only one season removed from finishing top-five in passing yards, TDs, and completion rate. 2022 also turned up a QB4 fantasy finish (16 games).
Here’s what Condon passed along last week.
“They [the Bengals] felt like it was no issue during minicamp,” Condon said of Burrow’s right wrist. “His accuracy, his velocity is the same… they even called him bigger and stronger than in years past.”
Look past health, and Burrow’s fantasy value looks much more appealing.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins return, with the latter set to play 2024 on the franchise tag.
The Bengals swapped out Tyler Boyd for Round 3 pick Jermaine Burton, who supplies more downfield ability. He notched 18.0 yards per catch across four college seasons. Now we’ll see if he can earn a role ahead of guys like Andrei Iosivas and Charlie Jones, a pair of 2023 draft picks.
TE remains an unexciting spot, as Mike Gesicki joins Tanner Hudson atop the depth chart. Overall, though, this pass catching unit brings plenty of promise.
Burrow did lose long-time coordinator Brian Callahan to a head coaching job. HC Zac Taylor has always called plays, though. And new OC Dan Pitcher has held the role of Bengals QB coach since Burrow entered the league in 2020.
