Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson looks to build off a breakout second season. His 2023 included top-10 finishes among TEs in targets, catches, yards, and TDs. As a result, the 25-year-old slotted ninth in total PPR points.
What They're Saying
Ahead of training camp, Ferguson’s garnered attention from two key Cowboys.
HC Mike McCarthy discussed what’s stood out about the upstart TE.
"Consistency in his passion and energy," McCarthy noted. "But really, just his growth as a football player. We talked a little bit about his weight; I think he’s done an outstanding job in the strength and conditioning phase of it. He’s having a great offseason. Very, very comfortable with the little things we’ve asked him to do on top of what he did last year."
QB Dak Prescott chimed in with similar sentiments.
"Obviously, you see the jump he made from Year 1 to Year 2," Prescott remarked. "And he’s improved his intensity in his preparation just in this offseason, the way that he’s treated his body, the way that he’s been communicating with me throughout the offseason, whether it’s catching and throwing. He’s a big-time playmaker for this team, for this offense. As long as he continues to get better, the sky’s the limit for his potential and what he can do for this team."
2024 Fantasy Football Impact
Ferguson sits eighth in our TE rankings. He’s TE9 in early Underdog Fantasy drafts; TE11 on the FFPC. So there’s some appeal here at cost.
Dallas simply punted on upgrading at WR this offseason, so look for another busy year out of Ferguson. Current projections have him for 96 targets – ninth most among TEs.
Dynasty Impact
Ferguson is under contract through the 2025 season. We'll keep an eye on the status of Prescott, though, who's currently slated for free agency in 2025.
