Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (quad) missed practice again on Thursday. The Athletic's Daniel Popper did spot Allen working off to the side of practice. We're still expecting Allen to play vs. the Patriots this weekend, but his status is certainly worth checking back on Friday afternoon.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (quad) did not practice on Wednesday. It's a new injury, but one we're not particularly worried about after Allen's 14-catch performance on a 98% snap rate last week. We'll see if Allen gets back on the practice field tomorrow.
Though Week 12's showdown between the Bears and Vikings didn't provide much entertainment, it did shed some light on Chicago's backfield situation. Rookie RB Roschon Johnson ended Monday night with a season-high 75 scrimmage yards on 15 touches. He played on 74.6% of the team's snaps, including all 13 third-down situations. Before this contest, Johnson had never played on over 50% of the Bears' offensive snaps and had just two games with more than 10 touches. His teammate and typical starter Khalil Herbert took a back seat and only played on 15 snaps in the game, seeing 6 carries and 2 catches for a combined 38 yards. Herbert did start but got less than half as many snaps as he played in his Week 11 return from IR -- despite D'Onta Foreman being inactive -- and lost work as a runner and receiver. And there's been no indication of a re-injury or other physical limitation for Herbert. It's just one game, but we'll have to at least enter Week 14 (after the bye) assuming Johnson will now work ahead of Herbert. We'll see about Foreman's availability, after he managed two limited practices ahead of Monday night's game.
Chargers TE Gerald Everett (chest) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Ravens. He was a full-go in Friday’s practice, so the chest shouldn’t be much of an issue. But the matchup with Baltimore’s ninth-ranked TE defense leaves Everett as a weak fantasy play.
ESPN's Adam Schefter calls Chargers TE Gerald Everett (chest) "likely" to play vs. the Ravens tonight, "barring any pre-game setbacks." Everett was a full participant in Friday's practice. He should return as Los Angeles' lead TE but isn't a recommended fantasy starter against Baltimore's ninth-ranked TE defense.
Chargers TE Gerald Everett (chest) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Ravens. He was a full-go in Friday’s practice, which likely puts him on track to play. In that case, neither Everett nor Donald Parham will be a recommended fantasy starter against Baltimore’s ninth-ranked TE defense.
Chargers TE Gerald Everett (chest) was limited in Wednesday's practice. That gives him a shot to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Ravens. Everett wouldn't be a recommended TE1, but his return would knock TE Donald Parham out of consideration.
Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee) is active for today's game against the Lions. That marks his return after two games down for the injury that knocked him out early in Week 8. There's bound to be some re-injury risk, after Edmunds managed just one limited practice this week. But he's a lower-level IDP option. LB Jack Sanborn is also active. He was listed with an ankle issue and an illness, but the latter seemed to be the cause for his "questionable" tag. Edmunds' return should decrease Sanborn's playing time, though, and keep him from being a worthwhile IDP option.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) is active for today’s game vs. the Packers. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported this morning that Allen will play "without restrictions." He remains a must-start.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) is expected to play "without restrictions" vs. the Packrs today. We assume that there's still some risk of re-injury here, but it doesn't sound like Allen will be on any type of snap count. He remains a must-start in season-long fantasy leagues.
On Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Bears RB Khalil Herbert has been officially activated off IR ahead of Week 11 vs. the Lions. Herbert's return to action will mark his first game back since injuring his ankle in Week 5 vs. the Commanders. This news lowers the fantasy upside of fellow RBs D'Onta Foreman and Roschon Johnson as we expect the Bears' backfield to be deployed in more of a committee approach. See where each player appears in our current RB rankings for Week 11.
Bears LB Tremaine Edmunds (knee) returned for a limited practice Friday and is questionable for Sunday's game against the Lions. We'll see about his status next week. LB Jack Sanborn is also questionable. He seemed to be headed in the right direction after a full Thursday practice but then missed Friday's practice with an illness. We'll check his status over the weekend.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers. He told reporters Thursday that he’ll play through his AC joint sprain – and then put in a full practice on Friday. There’s a bit more risk with Allen due to the shoulder injury, but he remains a must-start in fantasy football.
Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle, shin) is not listed on the final Week 11 injury report. He got in full practices on Thursday and Friday and will play vs. the Lions this weekend for the first time since Week 5. RB D'Onta Foreman (ankle) is listed as questionable for that one after a limited week of practice. We're betting on Foreman playing, but it sure looks like Herbert is the healthier player right now. That makes him the preferred fantasy start in this backfield, although neither guy is an exciting play vs. Detroit's eighth-ranked RB defense.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He told reporters afterward that he has an AC joint sprain in that left shoulder but fully plans on playing vs. the Packers this weekend. We'll update Allen's status again tomorrow.
Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle, shin) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. He was a full-go all last week before missing the Thursday nighter vs. the Panthers, so we can't say yet that Herbert will definitely play vs. the Lions this weekend. We'll see how he's listed on the final injury report tomorrow.
Chargers TEs Gerald Everett (back) and Donald Parham (hip) did not practice on Wednesday. Everett was knocked out of last weekend's game with the back injury. Parham's hip issue is a surprise. We'll see if one or both guys are able to practice on Thursday. Stone Smartt is the Chargers' top healthy TE.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. He was able to return to last week's game after hurting the shoulder, catching a 38-yard TD late in the fourth quarter. So we're tentatively expecting Allen to play vs. the Packers this weekend. But HC Brandon Staley wouldn't say for sure that Allen would be available, only saying that he's "hopeful." We'll update his status again tomorrow.
Bears RB Khalil Herbert (ankle, shin) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He's been working his way back from the ankle injury, but the shin is new this week. He remains uncertain for Sunday's game vs. the Lions. We'll keep you updated on Herbert's progression throughout the week.
Chargers WR Keenan Allen injured his shoulder in the third quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Lions. He briefly returned but then headed back to the locker room with trainers and is now officially questionable to return. We'll update his status when we know more.
Update: Allen returned early in the fourth quarter.
