Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard left in the 1st half of Monday night's game against the Chiefs with a quad injury. The team ruled him out for the rest of the night by the start of the 2nd half. That doesn't bode well for the Week 9 chances for a player who just returned from a hamstring injury. We'll see about the severity of Shepard's quad issue this week.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) are active for tonight's game vs. the Chiefs. Shepard missed Weeks 4, 5 and 7 with hamstring trouble but got in 3 limited practices this week. Toney put in 2 limited practices after hurting his ankle in Week 5, aggravating it early in Week 6 and then missing Week 7. Both guys carry some risk of re-injury tonight. But there's also plenty of upside in the plus matchup.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan reports that Giants WRs Sterling Shepard (hamstring) and Kadarius Toney (ankle) are expected to play vs. the Chiefs tonight. Shepard got in 3 limited practices this week, while Toney got in 2. Both guys are risk/reward fantasy plays coming off injuries.

Buccaneers LB Lavonte David, EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder, hand) and CB Richard Sherman (hamstring) are active for today's game against the Saints.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Chiefs. It sounds like the team expects him to play, though. ESPN's Jordan Ranaan tweeted Saturday: "Sterling Shepard is good. He's going to play barring a last minute setback." Plan to have Shepard available for fantasy usage this week.

Buccaneers LB Lavonte David (ankle), EDGE Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder, hand) and CB Richard Sherman (hamstring) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints. David finished the week with a full practice and should be ready to return. JPP missed practice all week but did so last week as well and then played through a questionable tag. Sherman was limited all week but shouldn't be in anyone's IDP plans anyway.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) got in his 2nd straight limited practice on Friday. He's seemingly on track to return for Monday night's game vs. the Chiefs, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) will start this weekend's game vs. the Steelers, HC Kevin Stefanski announced Friday. Mayfield will be playing through what's been reported as a fractured humerus bone and torn labrum in his left shoulder. He's at risk of an in-game aggravation, making him an extremely shaky Week 8 fantasy play.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds injured his right arm in the 4th quarter of Thursday night's game vs. the Packers. This might be related to the shoulder injury he dealt with earlier this month. We'll update his status when we know more.

Update: Edmonds returned just a few plays later.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) put in his 2nd straight limited practice on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game vs. the Steelers remains uncertain. Check back tomorrow for another update.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) got in a limited practice on Thursday. That seemingly puts him on track to return for Monday night's game vs. the Chiefs, but we'll get another update on Shepard tomorrow.

Browns QB Baker Mayfield (shoulder) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He's trying to make it back for this weekend's game vs. the Steelers, despite the fractured humerus bone and torn labrum in his left shoulder. Mayfield would obviously be an extremely shaky fantasy play if he ends up suiting up.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Panthers. WRs Darius Slayton (hamstring) and John Ross (hamstring) are active. They figure to join Dante Pettis as New York’s top 3 WRs. Slayton has some WR3 appeal as the likely target leader.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Giants WRs Darius Slayton (hamstring) and John Ross (hamstring) are expected to play against the Panthers today, barring a setback in pregame warmups. WR Sterling Shepard, meanwhile, is a game-time decision with his hamstring injury. We'll get his status around 11:30 am ET, but Shepard will obviously come with elevated risk in fantasy lineups if he ends up active.

The Bears have ruled DL Akiem Hicks out for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. He was initially questionable with his groin injury.

Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (shoulder) is not listed on the final Week 7 injury report. He put in a full practice on Friday for the 1st time since hurting that shoulder back in Week 4. That might mean Edmonds is ready for his normal role after being limited the past 2 weeks.

Giants WRs Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and John Ross are questionable for Sunday's game vs. the Panthers with their hamstring injuries. Slayton seems to be in the best shape after putting in 3 limited practices this week. Ross was limited on Thursday and Friday. Shepard was added to the injury report on Thursday and then limited on Friday. He looks like the shakiest bet to play on Sunday. The Giants' healthy WRs right now are Dante Pettis and Collin Johnson. We'll get the team's inactives around 11:30 am ET.

12:35pm EDT 10/22/21

The Buccaneers have ruled LB Lavonte David (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Bears. That will once again make Kevin Minter a starting-level player alongside Devin White. Tampa also ruled out CB Richard Sherman (hamstring), leaving the defense without a recent free-agent addition who stepped into the starting lineup after injuries forced each of the season-opening top 3 corners to miss time. With Carlton Davis and Sean Murphy-Bunting on IR, Jamel Dean, Ross Cockrell (slot) and Dee Delaney look like the top 3 at CB.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Browns QB Baker Mayfield has a fractured humerus bone in his left shoulder, in addition to the torn labrum. He needs that fracture to heal before he'll be cleared to play. Mayfield told Glazer that he's "hoping" to return next week, but that feels unlikely. We'll keep you updated on the situation.

Giants WR Sterling Shepard was added to Thursday's injury report as limited with a hamstring. We don't have any details right now, but mid-week downgrades are never good. WR Darius Slayton (hamstring) remained limited on Thursday, while WR John Ross (hamstring) returned to a limited practice after sitting out Wednesday. We'll update the Giants' banged-up WR corps again tomorrow.
