Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Jets WR Corey Davis (knee) was added to Thursday's injury report and limited in practice. We'll have a better idea of his status for this weekend's game vs. the Bengals tomorrow. Davis' absence would be a boon to WRs Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore.
Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wasn’t asked to do much in Sunday’s win over Chicago, posting 234 yards and 2 scores on 25 attempts. The Bears helped the low volume by scoring only 10 points. Green Bay also had the run game working beautifully, especially with Aaron Jones. Rodgers’ scores went to Jones and Allen Lazard, who made his season debut following an ankle injury. Key RT Elgton Jenkins made his debut in Week 2 as well, although veteran LT David Bakhtiari remained out. Strong O-line play is critical for Rodgers, whose receiving corps lacks a true go-to target. The 38-year-old took 3 sacks against Chicago.
Jets DT Quinnen Williams left Sunday's win over the Browns with a foot injury. We'll see about the severity and his Week 3 status.
Jets WR Corey Davis hauled in a 66-yard TD late in Sunday’s win over the Browns. Holding a 6-point lead, the Cleveland secondary inexplicably allowed Davis to get wide open deep with 1:32 left to play. Davis had a 10-yard catch wiped out by holding, but otherwise, Sunday was largely an uneventful day outside of the long score. He managed only 2 catches and 4 targets, 4th most on the squad and a lowly 9% team share. He’ll likely forecast as a WR4 this week vs. Cincinnati.
Forced to play from behind in the 4th quarter, the Jets fed RB Breece Hall only 8 touches in Week 2. The rookie rushed 7 times for 50 yards, including a 23-yarder that showed off his plus vision, balance and burst. He was stuffed for a loss on the next play — a goal line chance — but later scored on a swing pass where the Browns defense failed to guard him. On the day, RB Michael Carter matched Hall in carries. Carter also topped the rookie 5-1 in targets, with Ty Johnson even mixing in for 3 targets. So until his usage improves, Hall will remain an RB3 for the foreseeable future. Next up is a home date with the Bengals.
Jets WR Garrett Wilson erupted for 8 catches, 102 yards and 2 scores against Cleveland. His 14 targets — yes, 14 — represented a 31.8% team share. Teammate Elijah Moore, meanwhile, mustered only 3 catches on 5 targets. Wilson’s effortless ability to create separation was on display all day, particularly on a 3rd-and goal pass where he was isolated out wide. Later, the rookie found a hole in the middle of Cleveland’s zone and snagged the game-winning score. Through 2 games, Wilson's posted 22-12-154-2 vs. 12-8-90-0 for Moore. We’ll see how this unit is shaken up by the eventual return of Zach Wilson, but for now, Joe Flacco is playing above expectation.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Bears. He was limited in all 3 practices this week and listed as questionable, so he’s probably not at 100% yet. That leaves Lazard as a risky Week 2 fantasy play. But if you were waiting on him, he’s available.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is expected to play vs. the Bears tonight, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Lazard is listed as questionable after a limited week of practice, so it's safe to assume he's still not at 100%. Lazard would be a risky Week 2 fantasy play.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Bears. He was limited in all 3 practices this week. The late kickoff could make this a tricky situation for folks hoping to use Lazard in fantasy lineups. We’ll see if we get an update on his status on Sunday morning.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) remained limited in Thursday's practice. We'll see what he does tomorrow and how he's listed on the final injury report ahead of Sunday night's game vs. the Bears.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) put in a limited practice on Wednesday. It gives him a chance to return for Sunday night's game vs. the Bears. We'll get another update on Lazard tomorrow.
Raiders WR Davante Adams went off against the Chargers to the tune of 10 catches, 141 yards and 1 score. His 17 targets (!) represented a 45.9% share of the team total, and he recorded a massive 3.6 yards per route run. He put on a route-running clinic — as usual — especially on one downfield ball vs. CB Asante Samuel Jr. He scored on a quick out near the goal line. Overall, Adams’ debut with the Raiders couldn’t have gone much better. He gets a dreamy Week 2 matchup with the Cardinals.
Corey Davis led Jets wideouts in targets in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. Davis tallied 9 in a game that found QB Joe Flacco spread 59 attempts around pretty evenly. Only rookie RB Breece Hall (10) beat Davis, while RB Michael Carter tied the veteran WR. Rookie WR Garrett Wilson drew 8 looks, with 7 going to WR Elijah Moore and 6 to WR Braxton Berrios. TE Tyler Conklin garnered 7 of 8 TE targets, with the other going to Lawrence Cager. Davis tied for 2nd among Jets with 6 receptions and led the team with 77 receiving yards. Only 1 other Jet reached 50 yards, and no one else exceeded 52.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Vikings. That leaves Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson as Green Bay's top 4 WRs.
Jets CB D.J. Reed is active for today's game against the Ravens. He entered the day questionable but finished the week with a full Friday practice and should be safe for IDP use.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero confirms that Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) is not expected to play vs. the Vikings today. He's listed as doubtful after missing practice all week. Lazard's absence leaves Green Bay with WRs Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson. Pelissero also reports that LT David Bakhtiari (knee) and RT Elgton Jenkins (pectoral/knee) will miss today's opener. It's a tough spot for QB Aaron Rodgers.
The Packers list WR Allen Lazard (ankle) as doubtful for Sunday's opener vs. the Vikings. He didn't practice all week and is obviously unlikely to play. Lazard's absence will leave Sammy Watkins, Romeo Doubs, Randall Cobb and Christian Watson as Green Bay's top 4 WRs. Check out where those guys sit in the Week 1 WR Rankings.
Packers WR Allen Lazard (ankle) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. At this point, fantasy owners can't bank on having him in Week 1 lineups. We'll see how Lazard is listed on Green Bay's final injury report tomorrow.
ESPN's Rich Cimini said Wednesday that he expects Jets WR Corey Davis to have a "bounce-back year," now that he's healthy. Cimini also said he thinks Davis' name will come up in trade rumors during the year. He stopped short of projecting a trade, though such a move could make sense. The Jets added 1st-round WR Garrett Wilson to WR Elijah Moore. Davis has 1 more year on his contract. Davis has been going late enough in drafts that there's no risk to taking a shot on him.
ESPN's Rich Cimini on Wednesday predicted that Jets TE Tyler Conklin will catch "at least 60 passes" this year. Cimini said the free-agent addition had an impressive summer and expects him to emerge as a "safety blanket" for Jets QBs. That's not a huge reception total over a 17-game season, but only 13 TEs reached 60 catches last year. So it would be a fantasy-relevant level. Consider this at least the latest indication than we should bet Conklin over new teammate C.J. Uzomah among Jets TEs.
