Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Dolphins HC Brian Flores said Wednesday that, after further testing, QB Tua Tagovailoa has been diagnosed with fractured ribs and will miss this weekend's game against the Raiders. Tua's availability beyond Week 3 is uncertain. It'll be Jacoby Brissett under center for however long Tagovailoa is out. Brissett was bad in relief this past Sunday, finishing 24 of 40 for 169 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. Downgrade Miami's passing game under Brissett.
Additional testing on Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa's injured ribs revealed no "major issues," according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "So it’ll be about pain tolerance and functionality moving forward.," Pelissero adds. We'll need to keep an eye on Tua's practice participation and progress this week. If he can't play vs. the Raiders on Sunday, it'll be Jacoby Brissett under center for Miami.
The belief is that Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is dealing with bruised ribs. But he's scheduled for additional testing on Monday to check for any associated cartilage damage, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That could keep Tagovailoa out for "the next couple of games," Rapoport adds. We should get another update on Tua's injury later today.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa has been diagnosed with bruised ribs, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. X-rays came back negative, and Tua will get an MRI on Monday "He's in a lot of pain," Pelissero adds.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa suffered a rib injury in the 1st quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Bills. He was in obvious pain and took a cart back to the locker room. Tagovailoa is officially questionable to return. QB Jacoby Brissett is in for Miami.
Broncos OLB Bradley Chubb (ankle) is active for today's game against the Jaguars. Don't be surprised, though, if his snaps are limited in his 1st action of the season.
Browns WR Anthony Schwartz (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Texans. The rookie was surprisingly involved in the opener, catching 3 of 5 targets for 69 yards and carrying once for 17 yards. But he played just 53% of the offensive snaps and still can’t be trusted in fantasy lineups.
Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (hip) is active for today’s game vs. the Jets. He was added to the injury report on Thursday, limited in the final 2 practices of the week and listed as questionable. So Smith carries elevated risk in fantasy lineups today.
ESNP's Adam Schefter reports that Broncos OLB Bradley Chubb (ankle) will "probably" make his season debut against the Jaguars today. Chubb is officially questionable with what has been a lingering issue since offseason surgery. We'd try to wait at least a game before popping him into IDP lineups. It's tough to know how big a role Chubb will play right away. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says it's a "game-time decision."
Browns WR Anthony Schwartz (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans after a limited week of practice. The rookie tallied 5 targets and 1 carry in the opener but ran a route on just 55% of pass plays. He's not on the redraft radar at this point.
Patriots TE Jonnu Smith (hip) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Jets. He was added to the injury report on Thursday and limited in the final 2 practices of the week. Smith ran a route on just 45% of pass plays in the opener, so he was a shaky fantasy play even before this injury. TE Hunter Henry’s Week 2 projection will get a big boost if Smith is out.
The Browns are placing MLB Anthony Walker on IR with a hamstring strain. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Walker “should” be back in 3 weeks. Walker was the only full-timer at the position for Cleveland in Week 1. Rookie Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah ranked 2nd among the group in playing time but stayed on the field for just 38% of snaps. We’ll see how things sort out in Walker’s absence. JOK carries the most IDP upside, if he gets primary playing time
The Patriots added TE Jonnu Smith to the injury report Thursday. He was limited by a hip issue. We'll see whether that's something to worry about heading into Sunday's visit to the Jets.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert announced on social media that he'll undergo season-ending knee surgery after consulting with multiple doctors. So, if you weren't already planning to, you can safely drop Mostert from all redraft rosters. San Francisco is left with Elijah Mitchell, JaMycal Hasty and Trey Sermon at RB. All 3 figure to be active for Week 2. It's also worth noting that RB Jeff Wilson (knee) is eligible to come off the PUP list in Week 7. You can see where all of those guys sit in our updated Rest-of-Season Rankings.
Niners RB Raheem Mostert has chipped cartilage in the knee he injured Sunday. ESPN’s Nick Wagoner reports that he’ll land on IR and is expected to miss 8 weeks. Elijah Mitchell took control of the backfield after Mostert left in Detroit, with JaMycal Hasty involved as well. We’d bet on Trey Sermon being active at Philly in Week 2. We’ll see about the workload split. Obviously, we have to assume that Mitchell will lead the way again — barring reports to the contrary.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan said after today's win over the Lions that RB Raheem Mostert is not dealing with an ACL injury. Shanahan didn’t have any other information. We should learn more tomorrow.
Broncos OLB Bradley Chubb (ankle) is inactive for today's game against the Giants. Malik Reed figures to pick up the most snaps in Chubb's absence.
49ers RB Raheem Mostert is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Lions with a knee injury. We'll pass along an update when we get one.
Broncos OLB Bradley Chubb (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants. He returned for limited practices Thursday and Friday after missing Wednesday's workout. Ian Rapoport reports that Chubb isn't likely to play his full role even if he's active for the game. Chubb is still working back from May ankle surgery.
Broncos OLB Bradley Chubb is out of practice this week because of an ankle injury. “He tweaked his ankle last week in practice; still bothering him a little bit so we’re going to give him this week to get it right,” HC Vic Fangio said Wednesday, via Aric DiLalla of the team website. It's reportedly not the ankle that Chubb had surgery on this offseason. We'll see if he returns to practice next week, ahead of the regular-season opener.
