Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Jags TE Evan Engram posted only 3 catches (4 targets) for 14 yards in Sunday’s loss to Kansas City. He scored from close range, only for the play to be negated by an illegal man downfield penalty. Brutal, as Engram remains stuck on 1 score this season. A low-end spot-starter going forward, Engram now enters a Week 11 bye.
Jags WR Christian Kirk tallied 9 catches, 105 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday’s loss to Kansas City. His 12 targets — a 30% team share — tied a season-high. He scored on a pair of end zone targets, including one on a slick over-the-shoulder grab. The former Cardinal now has 76+ yards in 3 of his past 4 outings; 4 TDs over his past 5. A Week 11 bye awaits before a home matchup with Baltimore.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (back) put in a full practice on Friday and isn’t listed on the final injury report. So the back issue that limited his last week shouldn’t be a problem on Sunday in Kansas City. Consider Engram a lower-end TE1 vs. the Chiefs’ 28th-ranked TE defense.
Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Bears. Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy will again serve as Detroit’s #2 and #3 WRs.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (back) remained limited in Thursday's practice. He'll need to put in a full practice on Friday to be a comfortable fantasy play vs. the Chiefs this weekend.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram (back) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He missed some time in the 2nd half of last week's win over the Raiders, but it looks like he'll at least be available for Sunday's game vs. the Chiefs. What Engram does over the next couple of days will determine how safe a Week 10 fantasy play he is.
Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) did not practice on Wednesday. His absence this weekend would again leave Kalif Raymond as Detroit's #2 WR vs. the Bears.
Niners DL Arik Armstead said Monday his return to action is "coming soon," according to NBC Sports Bay Area. Armstead revealed that he has been recovering from a hairline fracture in his left ankle. That plus plantar fasciitis in his left foot have kept him out since Week 4. We'll see whether Armstead is ready for Sunday's game against the Chargers.
Jaguars TE Evan Engram hurt his back in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's win over the Raiders. He returned to the game but saw his snaps limited. Engram played easily his smallest share of the season, with TEs Chris Manhertz (primarily a blocker) and Dan Arnold both playing more than usual. Engram's status will be worth tracking leading up to next Sunday's visit to Kansas City.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence ran for a season-high 53 yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders. He matched his season high of 6 rushing attempts from Week 6. Lawrence has increased his rushes over the past 5 contests (4.6 per game) vs. the first 4 (2.5). He also went 25-of-31 passing against Las Vegas, for 235 yards and 1 TD. The 109 passer rating marked just his 2nd game among the past 6 with a rating better than 84.3. The Jaguars head to Kansas City in Week 10.
Jaguars WR Christian Kirk led the team in targets (9), receptions (8) and receiving yards (76) in Sunday's win over the Raiders. He also snagged the team's lone TD pass. It marked the 1st time since Week 4 that he led the team in targets by himself. WR Marvin Jones followed with 6 targets. He and Zay Jones tied with 5 receptions apiece, though each fell short of 50 yards. TE Evan Engram tallied just 1 catch for 8 yards among 2 targets. Jacksonville visits the Chiefs in Week 10.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne delivered 109 yards and 2 TDs on 28 carries in Sunday's come-from-behind win over the Raiders. He added 2 catches for 17 yards on 2 targets. It's the 2nd straight game of 24+ rushing attempts since Jacksonville traded RB James Robinson. RB JaMycal Hasty claimed the only 2 other RB carries (for 6 yards) vs. Vegas and caught his lone target (for 5 yards). The Jaguars head to Kansas City in Week 10, to face another soft run defense.
Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Packers. It’ll be WRs Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) is listed as doubtful for this weekend’s game vs. the Packers after missing practice on Thursday and Friday. With WR D.J. Chark (ankle) on IR, Detroit is down to WRs Kalif Raymond and Tom Kennedy behind Amon-Ra St. Brown.
Lions WR Josh Reynolds (back) did not practice on Thursday. It's a step back from his limited practice on Wednesday. We'll see what Reynolds does on Friday and how he's listed on the final injury report.
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence threw for just 133 yards in Sunday morning's loss to the Broncos, with 1 TD and a pair of INTs. Lawrence threw right into the grip of S Justin Simmons at the goal line in the 2nd quarter, and then tossed the clinching pick to CB K'Waun Williams late. TE Evan Engram led the Jags in receptions (4) and receiving yards (55), and snagged the TD pass. WR Christian Kirk led with 7 targets but managed just 3 catches for 40 yards. Jacksonville gets a favorable draw against the Raiders in Week 9.
Jaguars RB Travis Etienne Jr. racked up 156 yards and a TD on 24 carries in Sunday morning's loss to the Broncos. He added 6 yards on 3 receptions, dominating the backfield work. JaMycal Hasty took the other 4 RB carries for 13 yards, with nearly all of that coming on a single 12-yard run. Hasty did actually beat Etienne 4-3 in targets but took his 3 receptions for a total of minus-3 yards.
NFL Network's Mike Giardi reports that Patriots QB Mac Jones is dealing with numbness in the toes on his left foot as he continues to recover from his high-ankle sprain. It didn't impact Jones' on-field prep for the Jets this week, per Giardi, but it's safe to say that Jones still isn't at 100%. He shouldn't be in Week 8 fantasy lineups.
ESPN's Field Yates reports that Patriots QB Mac Jones will start Sunday's game against the Jets. Jones took "about 90%" of the 1st-team reps in Wednesday's practice, Yates adds. Jones was yanked from Monday night's loss to the Bears after going 3-of-6 for 13 yards and an INT. But QB Bailey Zappe managed just 185 yards with 1 TD and 2 INTs the rest of the way. We'd expect Jones to remain New England' starter for the remains of the season, unless he really flops. He's just a QB2 in fantasy football.
Patriots QB Mac Jones (ankle) is active and expected to start tonight's game against the Bears, though the team website says "several reports indicate that rookie Bailey Zappe could also take snaps." If you're using Jones in a season-long lineup, then that shouldn't change anything. But have that in mind as you weigh DFS showdown options. Even if Zappe doesn't play, any concern for Jones' recovering ankle could motivate more rushing lean for the New England offense.
