Jameis Winston Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Browns QB Jameis Winston will remain the team's starter going forward, HC Kevin Stefanski said Monday. Any other reaction to Winston's strong Week 8 showing wouldn't have made sense. Winston smoked the Ravens for 334 yards and three TDs in the upset win. Other than a lost fumble late in the first half and a bad throw late in the second that should have been picked off, Winston was excellent.

Making his first start since 2022, Browns QB Jameis Winston tallied 334 yards and 3 TDs against the Ravens. The former Buc completed 27 of 41 passes with only one turnover – a second-quarter sack/fumble.

The Browns plan to start QB Jameis Winston in Sunday's game against the Ravens, according to insider Jordan Schultz. "My understanding is Dorian Thompson-Robinson was [Deshaun] Watson’s backup on Sunday strictly from a gameplan standpoint," Schultz adds. That suggests that Cleveland is opting to go with Winston over Thompson-Robinson regardless of Thompson-Robinson's finger injury. That'd be good news for Cleveland's pass catchers going forward.

Browns HC Kevin Stefanski said after Sunday's loss to the Bengals that QB Deshaun Watson is believed to have a torn Achilles. We should get confirmation on Monday. A torn Achilles would end Watson's season and threaten his availability for the start of the 2025 campaign. Cleveland also lost QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson to a finger injury against Cincinnati, leaving QB Jameis Winston at the controls. Consider Winston the favorite to start next weekend's game vs. the Ravens.

Browns QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson was knocked out of Sunday's game vs. the Bengals with a fourth-quarter finger injury. With QB Deshaun Watson exiting earlier with an Achilles injury, QB Jameis Winston finished out the game for Cleveland. He gave the Browns the best QB play they've seen this season, completing 5 of 11 passes for 67 yards and a score. We'll see about the Watson and Thompson-Robinson injuries. But if the Browns are serious about winning, Winston will be under center going forward. He's worth adding in 2-QB and Superflex leagues.

Browns QB Deshaun Watson is facing new allegations of sexual battery and assault from an incident that took place in 2010. The accusations are disturbing, to say the least. You can read them in this article from Pro Football Talk

The Browns held QB Deshaun Watson out for nearly all of team drills Wednesday because of what HC Kevin Stefanski called "general arm soreness."

The Browns and QB Jameis Winston have agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $8.7 million, according to insider Jordan Schultz. Winston had interest from "multiple teams," per Schultz, but was presumably not offered a starting job. He'll slide in behind QB Deshaun Watson in Cleveland. Watson is coming off a disappointing 2023 season that ended with a right shoulder injury that required surgery. Considering what the Browns are paying him, though, Watson will need to be even worse this year for Winston to see the field. Winston is only worth stashing in deeper superflex dynasty leagues. This signing means that QB Joe Flacco won't be back in Cleveland.

Saints backup QB Jameis Winston agreed to a restructured contract that adds two years to his deal, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports. But the move was reportedly done merely to spread out his cap hits. Those two extra years void "early in the new league year," according to Fowler. That means Winston can still hit free agency this spring. The 30-year-old will be interesting to watch on the market. Winston is stashable in dynasty leagues now (where possible) in case he lands behind a shaky starter. That seems more likely than Winston getting a shot to be some team's bridge QB. Winston previously hit the market in 2020, 2021, and 2022. His most recent New Orleans contract came with a starting opportunity ($28 million over two years), but the Saints stuck with Andy Dalton in 2022 even after Winston got healthy and then imported Derek Carr for 2023.

Per Saints beat reporter Nick Underhill, QB Derek Carr (concussion, rib, right shoulder) has passed NFL concussion protocol and will be the starter in Week 14 vs. the Panthers. Fantasy managers who had planned on using backup QB Jameis Winston in lineups this weekend will need to prepare a pivot move. As for Carr, he's still dealing with a shoulder issue and should be viewed with tempered expectations. The good news is that the Panthers rank 20th in pass-defense DVOA this season and provide a good enough matchup for Carr to net decent QB2 value.

Saints QB Derek Carr (concussion, rib, right shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game vs. the Panthers. He was a full participant in Friday’s practice, so it looks like there’s a real chance he’s cleared to play on Sunday. We’ll look for further updates on Carr’s status and get New Orleans’ inactives around 11:30 am ET on Sunday. QB Jameis Winston will start if Carr is out.

Saints QB Derek Carr (concussion, rib, right shoulder) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. HC Dennis Allen said that Carr "feels pretty good” in terms of the rib and shoulder injuries and that it's the concussion that could keep him out for this weekend's game vs. the Panthers. We'll see how Carr progresses through the protocol over the next few days, but QB Jameis Winston is still the favorite to start on Sunday.
