Giants TE Daniel Bellinger said Wednesday that he expects to play again this season, though his return timeline remains unclear, according to SNY's Connor Hughes. The rookie has been out since suffering a Week 7 eye injury that required surgery. He says some healing is still needed before he can return to action.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger will undergo surgery this week to repair a fractured eye socket and septum, according to the New York Post's Paul Schwartz. It's not believed to be a season-ending injury, per Schwartz, but expect Bellinger to miss multiple games. The rookie had emerged as a significant part of New York's passing game, drawing 16 targets over his last 4 healthy games. His absence will leave New York with TEs Chris Myarick and Tanner Hudson -- and free up a few more targets for RB Saquon Barkley and WR Wan'Dale Robinson.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger was poked in the eye in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. It immediately swelled up, and Bellinger had to be carted to the locker room. We'll update his status when we know more.

Giants QB Daniel Jones threw for just 173 yards in Sunday's win over the Ravens. He tossed TD passes to rookies TE Daniel Bellinger and WR Wan'Dale Robinson. Bellinger led the team with 5 targets catching all of them for 38 yards. Robinson tied Marcus Johnson for 2nd on the team with 4 looks. He caught 3 for 37 yards. RB Saquon Barkley was the only other Giant with more than 2 receptions.

Giants RB Saquon Barkley overcame a brief absence Sunday to supply 106 total yards in the win over Green Bay in London. Barkley carried 13 times for 70 yards and a TD. RB Gary Brightwell and TE Daniel Bellinger added TD runs as well.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger exited Sunday's preseason game to get checked for a concussion. We'll see if he's diagnosed with the head injury. Bellinger is currently atop New York's depth chart, but we wouldn't be surprise to see the team make an addition at the position this coming week.

Giants beat writer Dan Duggan considers Daniel Bellinger the team's "clear TE1.” He’s seen a steady dose of snaps with the starters throughout camp, and given the minimal competition, this news isn’t shocking. We’ll see if the Giants add a veteran body, but the dynasty arrow is certainly pointing up for the 4th-round rookie.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger (quad) has evidently been activated from the PUP list. He was on the field for the start of Wednesday's training-camp practice -- and running with the 1st-team offense. At this point, the rookie looks like the favorite to open the season as the Giants' starter, ahead of veterans Ricky Seals-Jones and Jordan Akins. Bellinger is still just a late-round fantasy flier in what figures to be a WR-centric passing game.

Giants TE Daniel Bellinger is opening training camp on the PUP list with a quad injury. The rookie surprisingly ran with the starters in OTAs and is certainly a name to monitor leading up to Week 1. We'll see when he's able to get back on the practice field.

Fourth-round rookie TE Daniel Bellinger just might be the favorite to start for the the Giants this season. NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt reports that Bellinger was "almost exclusively running with the first-team offense" at Thursday's OTA practice. "Ricky Seals-Jones and Jordan Akins are both healthy and were running with the backups," Rosenblatt added. Although it's tough to count on much from any rookie TE -- let alone a 4th-round pick -- this report highlights Bellinger's limited competition on the road to a lead job. He's not a bad shot to take as a 3rd TE in best-ball drafts right now, especially when stacked with QB Daniel Jones. We'll keep watching how the situation develops.

The Giants added San Diego State TE Daniel Bellinger in the 4th round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Bellinger totaled just 68 catches for 771 yards and 5 TDs across 4 college seasons. He fared poorly in Pro Football Focus receiving grade and yards per route run last year. On the plus side, the 6'5, 247-pounder earned a 97th percentile Relative Athletic Score at the Combine, highlighted by a 4.63-second 40 time. That at least gives him the potential to be more productive in the pros than he was in college. Bellinger joins a wide-open Giants TE group alongside Ricky Seals-Jones and Jordan Akins.
