Tennessee Titans Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Titans have ruled DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Broncos, along with starters S Amani Hooker (shoulder), EDGE Bud Dupree (hip) and LB Zach Cunningham (elbow). Simmons is the biggest loss, both for the run defense and the pass rush. He had played through the sprain the past 2 games -- including for 81 snaps in last week's OT loss to the Chiefs. He said this week that he aggravated the ankle in that game. We'll see whether he can make it back for a Week 11 trip to Green Bay.

Titans EDGE Bud Dupree (hip), DL Jeffery Simmons (ankle), LB Zach Cunningham (elbow), S Amani Hooker (shoulder) and CB Kristian Fulton (hamstring) missed Thursday's practice. Simmons has played the past 2 weeks despite missing both practice weeks. His playing time increased last game vs. the 1 before. We'll see about the whole group Friday.

Titans WR Treylon Burks (toe) has been designated to return from IR. He'll be back at practice this week and is eligible to play vs. the Broncos on Sunday. We'll see if he's ready. The rookie had worked himself into a full-time role before going down, although his volume still wasn't great. That figures to remain the case going forward, especially until QB Ryan Tannehill returns. Burks is worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams, but he's not a viable Week 10 starter.

Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) and EDGE Bud Dupree (illness) are active for tonight's game against the Chiefs.

The Titans have ruled S Amani Hooker (shoulder) out for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) and EDGE Bud Dupree (illness) are questionable. Simmons missed the entire practice week for the 2nd straight time but still played through the issue for last Sunday's win at Houston. Dupree popped up on the injury report after missing Friday's workout. We'll confirm the status of both starters Sunday night. Make sure you have an insurance option if you hope to wait for Simmons in your IDP lineup.

Cowboys RBs coach Skip Peete said the team is trying to keep RB Tony Pollard to no more than 30 snaps per game. "Pollard played a total of 30 plays [last week], and I think that's his max - as far as total play count - because then the juice doesn't become the same and he's not as quick, not as fast," Peete said. "When he got that long run on third-and-1, soon as he got to the sideline he said, 'Coach, I'm done. Done for the game. I've got no more.' ... Tony's obviously a very talented runner and good all-around back, but some guys are race cars. Some guys are high-quality, expensive sedans and those sedans can go for a long distance at a very high rate, whereas race cars go very fast and quick and run out of gas." It's just the latest indication that Dallas views Pollard as the 1B to Ezekiel Elliott's 1A.

Bengals CB Chidobe Awuzie tore his right ACL in Monday night's loss to the Browns and will miss the rest of the season. The defense might get CB Eli Apple back this week. He missed the Cleveland game with a hamstring injury that knocked him out early the week before. Apple put in a limited practice Wednesday.

The Falcons are trading WR Calvin Ridley to the Jaguars in exchange for what NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls a "complex draft compensation that can be worth at maximum a 2023 5th rounder and a 2024 2nd rounder." We'll pass along further details on the return when we have them. Ridley, of course, is suspended for at least the rest of the 2022 season for gambling on NFL games. He'll be able to apply for reinstatement in February. Assuming that gets granted, he'll join Jacksonville as a 28-year-old with a 1,374-yard 2020 season under his belt. It's a risky move for the Jaguars, but one that could pay off big time. Ridley and Christian Kirk have the potential to be a strong duo for QB Trevor Lawrence, who's had an up-and-down start to his NFL career.

Update: Per Rapoport, the 2024 draft pick starts as a 4th-rounder. It becomes a 3rd if Ridley hits a play-time milestone and a 2nd if Ridley agrees to a long-term deal with Jacksonville.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard got a modest 14 carries with Ezekiel Elliott out Sunday, but he racked up 131 yards and 3 TDs on the ground. The biggest strike came from 54 yards out in the 4th quarter, but he also scored from 18 and 7 yards out. Pollard added 16 yards on his lone reception. Malik Davis checked in 2nd with 8 carries for 23 yards and caught both of his targets for 18 more. Dallas now gets a Week 9 bye. We'll see about Elliott's knee after that.

Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) is active for today's game against the Texans. He didn't practice at all this week and might be limited.

Titans DT Jeffery Simmons (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. He missed practice all week and has moved down our Week 8 IDP rankings. We'll check his status Sunday (barring a change before then). Tennessee ruled EDGE Rashad Weaver (back) out for the game. LB David Long (groin), on the other hand, is off the final injury report. He put in a full Friday practice after limited workouts the previous 2 days.

Bengals WR Tyler Boyd erupted for 8 grabs, 155 yards and 1 score against the Falcons in Week 7. The Bengals talked about getting Boyd more involved — and they delivered. Joe Burrow fed him 9 targets (21.4%) — 2nd most on the team behind Ja’Marr Chase. Boyd scored on a deep ball with help from a defender that tripped and fell. Still, the Bengals’ shift to a more pass-happy approach should provide a boost to him going forward. He's still more WR4 than WR3 when this offense is healthy. But Boyd certainly belongs on rosters in all 10+ team leagues. Next up is a road matchup with Cleveland.

Titans DT Jeffery Simmons left Sunday's win over the Colts with an ankle injury. We'll watch for word on whether he'll miss any further time.

Chargers DT Sebastian Joseph-Day (ankle) is active for today's game against the Seahawks.

Chargers RB Joshua Kelley (knee) will miss at least the next 4 games after landing on IR on Saturday. His absence leaves Sony Michel as Los Angeles' #2 RB for now. We'll see if rookie RB Isaiah Spiller can make a push for that job.

Chargers RB Joshua Kelley sprained an MCL in Monday night's win over the Broncos and is expected to miss 2-4 weeks. That leaves Sony Michel as Los Angeles' #2 RB and means that we might see rookie RB Isaiah Spiller active on game days. Michel should be rostered in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams as the short-term Austin Ekeler handcuff.

Chargers RB Joshua Kelley injured his knee in the 1st half of Monday night's game vs. the Broncos and didn't return. That left Sony Michel as Los Angeles' #2 RB. We'll see about the severity of Kelley's injury. If he's going to miss multiple weeks, Michel will be worth stashing as the Austin Ekeler handcuff.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard matched his season highs for opportunities (carries + targets) and touches in Sunday night's loss to the Eagles. He ran for 44 yards on 11 carries and added 2 catches for 8 yards among 3 targets. The 14 opportunities and 13 touches matched his totals from the Week 3 win over the Giants. Pollard's 40% snap share fell right in line with the previous 4 games, however, and still well short of the 55% he played in the season-opening loss to the Buccaneers. It would seem fair to expect more opportunities for Pollard in trailing game scripts, though we remain surprised that Dallas hasn't integrated him further into the offense across situations. RB Ezekiel Elliott did run well in the loss to Philly, gaining 81 yards and scoring among his 13 carries. Elliott added 1 catch for 5 yards on his lone target.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard delivered a 57-yard TD run in Sunday's win over the Rams ... but not a whole lot else. He rushed just 7 other times in the game (for 29 yards) distantly trailing Ezekiel Elliott's 22 attempts (for 78 yards). Elliott also continued to run ahead of Pollard as a receiver: 9 routes to 4, according to Pro Football Focus numbers. We'd love to see Pollard's displayed explosiveness force Dallas coaches to give him more touches. But his continued limited playing time makes Pollard bench fodder in most fantasy football leagues.

Cowboys RB Tony Pollard (illness) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. We’re expecting him to play his usual role behind RB Ezekiel Elliott.
