New York Jets Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

The Jets are hiring Nathaniel Hackett as their new OC, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Hackett was a disaster as Denver's HC this past season but had a successful stint as Green Bay's OC the previous 3 years. The Packers finished middle of the pack in total yards and points in Hackett's 1st season but climbed into the top 10 in both categories in 2020 and 2021. Those teams, of course, were quarterbacked by Aaron Rodgers, who's a big fan of Hackett. This move was presumably made by the Jets at least in part to help their chances of luring Rodgers to New York.

According to multiple reports, the Jets and OC Mike LaFleur are mutually parting ways. LaFleur jumped from the 49ers staff to the Jets when Robert Saleh took over as HC 2 seasons ago. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that other teams have inquired about LaFleur, so it sounds like this is more "parting" than firing. We'll see where LaFleur lands next and what he has to work with. It's tough to judge much from his 1st try at OC, with poor QB play limiting everything. We'll also see who the Jets pull in next ... and who starts at QB in 2023.

Jets TE Tyler Conklin caught all 6 of his targets for 80 yards in Sunday's lopsided loss to the Seahawks. He tallied 35 more yards than any other Jet and doubled his nearest teammate in catches. TE C.J. Uzomah beat Conklin by 1 target but caught just 3 for 24 yards. WR Garrett Wilson led the team with 11 targets but managed only 3 receptions for 18 yards. The Jets -- now eliminated from the playoffs -- visit Miami for the regular-season finale. That has been a positive scoring matchup for TEs; neutral for WRs.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (right thumb, knee) practiced fully on Friday and doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Week 17 vs. the Vikings. The former MVP hasn't tallied more than 14 fantasy points since Week 11. Rodgers is a high-end QB2 streaming option based on reputation and the fact that the Vikings' defense presents the 6th-best matchup for opposing QBs in adjusted fantasy points allowed.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (right thumb, knee) practiced in a limited capacity on Thursday. The veteran has fought through injury all season, so he'll probably be fine for Week 17 vs. the Vikings. We'll let you know if something changes on tomorrow's practice report.

The Seahawks haven't played particularly well overall on defense this season, but they have given WRs difficulty in fantasy football. Seattle stands as the worst matchup for the position by adjusted fantasy points allowed. No WR has reached 10 PPR points against the Seahawks since Week 13. No WR has reached 75 yards receiving against them since Week 7, and just 3 have gotten there all season. Rookie CB Tariq Woolen has been the biggest factor, limiting players to a 56.4% catch rate and 74.6 passer rating on balls thrown into his coverage, according to Pro Football Focus. The matchup doesn't come close to knocking Jets lead WR Garrett Wilson out of starter range in our Week 17 fantasy football rankings. But it's well worth noting for DFS lineup-building. And we wouldn't go chasing any other Jets wideouts. The difficult matchup for WRs combined with the league-best scoring matchup for TEs could also turn Jets TE Tyler Conklin into a Week 17 sleeper.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers (right thumb, knee) was a no-go at practice on Wednesday. The former MVP has gutted through injury all season. If something pops up regarding his availability for Week 17 vs. the Vikings, we'll let you know. Check back tomorrow for an update.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers threw for 238 yards and 1 TD on 24-of-38 passing in Sunday's win over the Dolphins. His 13.3 fantasy points (by ESPN scoring) is good for 13th among QBs on the week, at least, with 3 games left to go. Rodgers hit TE Marcedes Lewis for his only score and threw 1 INT. Rodgers figures to land in mid-QB2 range for a Week 17 matchup with the Vikings. Minnesota sits top-10 as a QB-scoring matchup but hasn't been as friendly to the position as the Dolphins have. WR Allen Lazard led the Packers with 11 targets at Miami, catching 5 for 61 yards. WR Christian Watson caught a team-high 6 passes before leaving with a hip injury.

The forecast for tonight’s Jaguars-Jets game calls for light rain early, potentially getting heavier throughout the night. The bigger concern is the wind. We’re looking at sustained 15-20 mph winds with gusts of 30+ mph. It's ugly weather that figures to impact the passing and kicking games — while also possibly pushing both teams to run more than they would in better conditions. We’ve updated our Jaguars and Jets projections for the forecast.

Jets DT Quinnen Williams (calf) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Jaguars. See where he lands in the Week 16 DL Rankings.

Jets WR Corey Davis (concussion) practiced fully again on Wednesday and does not carry an injury designation ahead of Week 16 vs. the Jaguars. Teammates Denzel Mims (concussion) and Jeff Smith (knee) did not practice and have ultimately been ruled out. While the Jaguars rank as the 3rd-easiest matchup in fantasy points allowed to WRs, the inconsistencies of QB Zach Wilson make Davis a risky play. Fantasy managers should sit Davis outside of the deepest of leagues.

Thursday Night Football is just around the corner, and the Jets WR corps has a mixed bag of injuries to sort through. Corey Davis (concussion) upgraded to a full participant in practice on Tuesday after being limited on Monday. However, Denzel Mims (concussion) and Jeff Smith (knee) did not practice two days in a row to open the week. Today's injury report will shed light on who QB Zach Wilson will have to throw to in tomorrow's game vs. the Jaguars. Stay tuned.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers completed 22 of 30 attempts for 229 yards with 1 TD and INT apiece in Sunday night's win vs. the Rams. Week 15 marks the 3rd consecutive game in which the former MVP didn't clear 15 points in 4-point per passing touchdowns leagues. Fantasy managers advancing in the playoffs can feel better about Rodgers' odds in next week's matchup against a Dolphins defense that ranks 4th-easiest in adjusted fantasy points allowed to QBs. Consider Rodgers a streaming option in 1QB leagues and a quality QB2 in superflex formats.

The Jets listed DT Quinnen Williams (calf) as a limited participant for Monday's practice. That's notable because Williams missed Sunday's loss to the Lions after sitting out practice all last week. We'll watch Williams' status leading up to the Thursday night meeting with the Jaguars.

Jets HC Robert Saleh said Monday that he's "very hopeful" WR Corey Davis (concussion) will be able to return for Thursday's game vs. the Jaguars. WR Denzel Mims figures to miss that one after sustaining a concussion in the loss to the Lions, so New York could really use Davis. We'll track his status over the next couple of days.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Jets DT Quinnen Williams (calf) will be inactive for today’s game against the Lions. Williams is officially questionable but missed practice all week. His absence hurts the Jets’ run D (and the pass rush, which is obviously good news for D’Andre Swift and Jamaal Williams.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Jets DT Quinnen Williams (calf) is "truly a 50-50 call" for today's game against the Lions. He adds that the team won't make that decision until pregame warmups. This indicates plenty of risk for a guy who missed practice all week, even if he turns up active. We've knocked Williams further down our Week 15 IDP rankings.

Jets DL Quinnen Williams (calf) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Lions. He missed practice all week after leaving the loss to the Bills early, so he’ll carry risk even if active. We’ll watch Williams’ status up until inactives arrive Sunday morning

Jets WR Corey Davis (concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Lions. We'll see if he can get cleared for Week 16. Davis figures to be replaced on the outside by WR Denzel Mims, who isn't a viable fantasy play. WRs Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore have more target upside without Davis -- although both guys take a hit with Zach Wilson under center.

Jets WR Corey Davis (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. He's not a good bet to play vs. the Lions this weekend, which is good news for WRs Garrett Wilson and Elijah Moore.
