Miami Dolphins Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (midsection) told reporters that he expects to play in the season opener vs. the Chargers. He missed most of August but was spotted on the practice field on Thursday. We'll get Miami's first official practice report of the season on Wednesday.

Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, expects Wilson to be back when first eligible in Week 5. Rosenhaus is obviously biased, so it's tough to put too much stock into his timeline. HC Mike McDaniel sounded much less optimistic about Wilson's status on Thursday. We'll continue to look for updates on the situation, but Wilson is only worth rostering in deep fantasy leagues or fantasy leagues with an IR spot.

Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill won't be suspended for his altercation at a Miami Beach marina back in June, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. That's been the assumption since Hill's accuser declined to press charges, but it's nice to have confirmation as we enter another big weekend of fantasy drafts. See where Hill sits in the WR rankings.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel said Thursday that RB De'Von Achane (shoulder) should be able to participate in next week's prep work for the opener vs. the Chargers. But McDaniel stopped short of saying that the rookie will be able to play in that game. Achane is back on the practice field but is wearing a non-contact jersey. It at least sounds like he's getting close to a full return. Achane's availability has taken on increased importance with RB Jeff Wilson's trip to IR.

Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel says RB Jeff Wilson Jr. landed on IR with a "midsection injury compounded by some finger issues," according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. We're guessing that means the combo of injuries was enough to make the team think Wilson needed time to heal up. McDaniel didn't seem to give an expected return timeline, but what he did say seems ominous: "I wouldn't be surprised if he would make a return this season. We will let his body tell us." That makes it sound like a return this season is not definite. We'll obviously keep watching this season. It's worth noting that McDaniel is often not the most serious coach in press conferences. But it's tough to advocate drafting Wilson at all right now. RB Raheem Mostert, on the other hand, looks like a high-upside selection in the double-digit rounds. You might be able to start him right away against the Chargers in Week 1.

The Dolphins surprisingly put RB Jeff Wilson Jr. on IR Thursday. That means he'll miss at least the first four games. We had seen no indication of a significant injury to Wilson. He missed Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed issue but had otherwise only missed scant early-August time with a minor left-leg injury. This designation leaves Raheem Mostert and Chris Brooks as the only healthy RBs on the roster, and Mostert likely the clear backfield leader for Week 1 against the Chargers. De'Von Achane (shoulder) and Salvon Ahmed (concussion) worked on the side Wednesday, which could mean they have a chance to be ready for Week 1. We'll look for more on Wilson's situation and outlook. He remains stashable, though he's probably more of an early-season waiver option in most leagues now than a draft target.

Dolphins RB De'Von Achane (shoulder) returned to practice on Tuesday, although he was sporting a non-contact jersey. The rookie went down in Miami's second preseason game 10 days ago. It looks like he has a shot to be ready for the regular season opener, but Achane won't be a viable Week 1 fantasy play. He got zero first-team reps in the preseason.

Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle (midsection) was in uniform for Tuesday's practice but remained on the rehab field, according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe. HC Mike McDaniel said that the team is being cautious with Waddle, with the goal to have him ready for Week 1. Waddle has been out since August 9. But, at this point, there's no reason to believe he won't be ready for the season opener.

Dolphins RB De'Von Achane avoided a severe injury to his shoulder, HC Mike McDaniel told reporters Monday. But according to NFL Network's Cameron Wolfe, the rookie RB is considered "week-to-week." That's a particularly tough spot for a young back who has been running fifth on the RB depth chart so far. We'll see whether Achane can return to the field before the regular-season opener. We're moving him down the RB rankings for upcoming fantasy football drafts, though.

Dolphins RB Devon Achane injured a shoulder in Saturday's preseason game vs. the Texans, HC Mike McDaniel said afterward. We'll look for more details on the severity and a timeline for Achane's return. The rookie got zero snaps with the first-team offense on Saturday, so he's not shaping up as an early-season fantasy option.

The Seahawks have activated LB Jordyn Brooks off the physically unable to perform list, where he opened camp while working back from a Week 17 ACL tear. It's a pretty remarkable turnaround for Brooks to return to the field nearly a month ahead of the regular-season opener. And he's certainly moving up our IDP rankings as a result. But we'll remain cautious with Brooks' outlook in fantasy football drafts.

Per beat writer Hal Habib, Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle has been out of practice since Wednesday with an injury to his midsection. “Fortunate that it's not something that I know will be a long-term deal,” HC Mike McDaniel said this weekend. "But he’s… steadily rehabbing. And working with the trainers, which fires me up." Waddle should be fine for Week 1 vs. the Chargers, but we’ll keep an eye on his return. The third-year pro looks poised for another impactful season in 2023. “I think Waddle has probably had one of the best camps on our team this year,” QB Tua Tagovailoa said. “And it really started with OTAs. From the first day he came he showed up and he was locked in. So it's kind of unfortunate to see something like that happen. I hope that it's just, you know, a couple days or whatever and I hope he gets better.” Waddle sits top-15 in our WR rankings.

The Dolphins held RBs Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert out of Friday night's preseason opener vs. the Falcons. But Devon Achane was still just the third RB to hit the field for Miami, behind Myles Gaskin and Salvon Ahmed. Achane, of course, is a rookie and missed a couple of days of practice earlier in the week with an undisclosed injury. We're still expecting him to be one of Miami's top-three backs by the time Week 1 rolls around, but his standing on the depth chart will be worth watching closely the rest of the summer.

According to multiple reports, the Bills' MLB job has come down to Tyrel Dodson vs. Terrel Bernard. And HC Sean McDermott has indicated it's even heading into the preseason games. The Athletic's Joe Buscaglia reports that Bernard left Thursday's practice with a hamstring injury. That's likely to keep Bernard out of Saturday night's exhibition opener, which could give Dodson an early advantage. It's also noteworthy that third-round rookie Dorian Williams is not in on this competition. We've had Bernard projected as the favorite in our IDP rankings, but Matt Milano might be the only Bills LB fit for most fantasy football leagues.

Dolphins RB Devon Achane was back on the practice field on Tuesday. He ended up missing just a couple of days with an undisclosed injury. The rookie's speed has been on full display throughout camp and figures to earn him a Week 1 role alongside Jeff Wilson and Raheem Mostert.

Dolphins RB Devon Achane is "day to day" with an undisclosed injury, HC Mike McDaniel said Sunday. McDaniel added that the team "doesn't have any concerns." This doesn't sound like something that'll impact Achane's 2023 fantasy value, but we'll let you know when the rookie gets back on the field.

Dolphins RB Jeff Wilson returned to practice after a two-day absence. He suited up with a compression sleeve on his right leg, per beat reporter Daniel Oyefusi. Miami surely has a plan to keep the 27-year-old fresh for Week 1. With the potential for 200+ touches, Wilson remains an intriguing late-round pick.

SI.com’s Omar Kelly says Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill merely “blended in” across Week 1 of training camp. “You can tell he's either slowed by a nagging injury, or his focus is off because he's had too many drops,” Kelly writes. This isn’t enough to make us alter Hill’s standing in our 2023 fantasy football rankings. But we’ll keep an eye on him to see if things remain off.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport updated the reports on Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey's left knee injury. He says Ramsey is expected to get a full meniscus repair, which would keep him out until December "if all goes well." This will be confirmed (or altered) at his Friday surgery. If you play in an IDP league where CBs are relevant, then you should treat Ramsey as though he's not playing this season. We've knocked his projection down to three games in our IDP rankings. Cam Smith and Kader Kohou look like candidates to compete for the vacated starting role opposite Xavien Howard.

Update: Friday's surgery confirmed this path. Ramsey had the full repair and is expected to be out until December, according to Rapoport.

Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey left the field late in Thursday's practice with a left knee injury. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Ramsey will have surgery on the knee and is expected to "miss the start of the regular season." The corner's ACL is reportedly "intact," however. We'll watch for more on just how long Ramsey will be out.

Update: NFL Network reports that Ramsey is expected to miss at least 6-8 weeks for the meniscus injury. "Doctors will have to determine whether the ligament can be repaired or must be removed, which would increase the cornerback's recovery timeline," the report says.
