Kansas City Chiefs Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes cleared concussion protocol, HC Andy Reid said after Sunday's loss to the Titans. We'll keep an eye on Mahomes this coming week, but it looks like he'll be available for next Monday night's game vs. the Giants.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes took a knee to the head as he was falling to the ground in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. Tennessee. He was noticeably woozy as he was helped off the field. Mahomes will certainly be checked for a concussion. We'll update his status when we know more.

The forecast for tonight's Colts-49ers game calls for a 100% chance of rain with winds of 20-30 mph. That's ugly -- and certainly enough to impact the passing and kicking games. We'd try to avoid both of these passing games outside of 49ers WR Deebo Samuel and Colts WR Michael Pittman. You should also stay away from both Ks.

Chiefs DL Chris Jones (hand/wrist) and CB Charvarius Ward (quad) are active for today's game against the Titans.

The Chiefs have ruled LB Anthony Hitchens out for Sunday's game against the Titans. He's listed on the injury report with a triceps contusion, but it sounds like a nerve issue in his right elbow might be more significant. His absence leaves Ben Niemann and Nick Bolton as the likely LB leaders, with Bolton the more attractive IDP option. DL Chris Jones (hand) and CB Charvarius Ward (quad) are questionable for the game. Jones had missed time with a wrist injury but appears to have moved on from that. He finished the week with a full practice. Ward put in limited practices all week.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (neck) is not listed on the final injury report. He practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. Kelce should play his usual role on Sunday against the Titans.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (neck) remained limited in Thursday's practice. We've heard nothing to suggest that he's in danger of missing this weekend's game vs. Tennessee, but check back tomorrow to see how he's listed on the final injury report.

Bengals RB Samaje Perine has been activated from the COVID list. He'll be back for Sunday's game against the Ravens to give lead back Joe Mixon a few breathers.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that LB Anthony Hitchens is dealing with a right triceps contusion. NFL Network's Jeffrey Chadiha reports, however, that Hitchens also has a nerve injury in the elbow. It's not yet clear how long -- or even whether -- Hitchens will miss further time. Ben Niemann led Chiefs LBs in Week 6 playing time, with Hitchens leaving early. Nick Bolton checked in 2nd, while Willie Gay Jr.'s snap share declined vs. the previous game. Bolton is the most attractive IDP option among those 3.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (neck) was limited in Wednesday's practice. He got banged up in last week's win over Washington but was able to return and looked just fine. He should be ready for Sunday's game vs. the Titans, but we'll update his status again tomorrow.

The Browns placed RB Kareem Hunt (calf) on IR. It's confirmation that he'll miss at least the next 3 weeks. We'll see if Hunt is ready to go when first eligible in Week 10. In a corresponding move, Cleveland promoted RB John Kelly from the practice squad to the active roster for Thursday night's game vs. the Broncos.

Update: HC Kevin Stefanski said Tuesday that Hunt is expected to miss in the “ballpark” of 4-6 weeks.

According to multiple reports, Browns HC Kevin Stefanski says RB Kareem Hunt will miss at least 3 weeks with the calf injury he suffered in the loss to Arizona. "Hopefully not much longer than that, but we'll see," he said, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. We'll see about Nick Chubb's status for Thursday night's game against Denver. He, of course, missed the Cardinals game with his own calf injury. If Chubb can't go, Cleveland will be down to D'Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton as backfield leaders. That would obviously mean touch-volume upside for both players. Just keep in mind that neither is likely to land in a workhorse role -- and that both are limited talents.

Browns RB Kareem Hunt injured his right leg in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals. He needed help getting off the field, putting no weight on that leg. We'll update his status when we know more.

Update: Hunt has been ruled out with a calf injury.

Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens left Sunday's win over Washington with a right elbow injury. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that it's believed to be a hyperextension. We'll see about Hitchens' return timeline. His absence could allow Willie Gay Jr. and Nick Bolton to take over the the corps' top 2 in playing time.

2:39pm EDT 10/17/21

Browns RB Kareem Hunt (wrist, knee) is active for today’s game against the Cardinals. HC Kevin Stefanski told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero that Hunt is “beat up” -- but added that he’s still in for an expanded role with RB Nick Chubb (calf) out. Hunt is a RB1 in Week 6 fantasy lineups.

Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens (knee) is active for today's game against Washington.

In addition to the change at safety, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reports that the Chiefs' defensive alterations could include "possibly more Nick Bolton and Willie Gay together at linebacker." It'll be a tough situation to read for IDP value before we see the new snap distribution among Chiefs LBs. We did move Anthony Hitchens down the Week 6 LB rankings, though.

Here's NFL Network's Tom Pelissero on Browns RB Kareem Hunt's Week 6 status: "[HC] Kevin Stefanski told me RB Kareem Hunt (wrist/knee) is beat up, but he looked good in practice Friday and will get more work than usual today against the Cardinals with Nick Chubb (calf) out. Stefanski has a number of touches in mind." How's that for a mixed message? Hunt got in just 1 limited practice this week and is listed as questionable. It's clear from Pelissero's report that Hunt won't be at 100% today. But with Chubb out -- and D'Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton Cleveland's only other RBs -- we're still expecting an expanded workload for Hunt.

Cardinals WR DeAndre Hopkins (illness) isn't listed on the final injury report. He was sidelined on Wednesday and Thursday but put in a full practice on Friday. Hopkins should be ready for his usual role in Sunday's game vs. the Browns.

The Chiefs have ruled DL Chris Jones (wrist) and CB Charvarius Ward (quad) out for Sunday's game at Washington. LB Anthony Hitchens (knee) is questionable. He finished the week with a full Friday workout, though. We'll check his status Sunday morning.
