Joshua Palmer Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Chargers WRs Mike Williams (ankle) and Keenan Allen (hamstring) are out for Sunday night’s game vs. the 49ers. Williams is probably still a couple of weeks away from returning from his high-ankle sprain. Allen has no timetable to return from his lingering hamstring problem. Josh Palmer will again operate as Los Angeles’ top WR this weekend, with DeAndre Carter the #2.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) remained sidelined on Thursday. He's a big long shot to play vs. the 49ers this weekend, again leaving Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter as Los Angeles' top 2 WRs.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. He suffered a setback with that hamstring while training over the bye week and didn't practice at all this week. Allen said he's not returning until he's back to 100%, so consider him iffy for Week 10. WR Mike Williams (ankle) is also out for Sunday's game, while WR DeAndre Carter was added to the injury report on Friday and is listed as questionable with an illness. We'll see if he's able to suit up come Sunday. Josh Palmer should lead Chargers WRs in targets against Atlanta's 31st-ranked WR defense. Los Angeles' other healthy WRs are Michael Bandy and Jason Moore. WRs Joe Reed, John Hightower and Keelan Doss are on the practice squad. RB Austin Ekeler and TE Gerald Everett also project for strong volume this weekend.

ESPN's Lindsay Thiry reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen says his bothersome hamstring "got worse" during training over the bye week. Allen added that he won't be playing limited snaps the next time he takes the field but that "it will be all or nothing, with his hamstring absolutely ready to go," according to Thiry. That seems to indicate he's not a great bet to play Sunday against the Falcons. We'll certainly be watching this situation. The Chargers will already be without WR Mike Williams (ankle), so Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter might be the lead duo at Atlanta.

Chargers WR Josh Palmer has cleared the concussion protocol, HC Brandon Staley said Wednesday. Barring a setback, Palmer will play vs. the Falcons this weekend. He's needed for a significant role with WR Mike Williams out and WR Keenan Allen still dealing with hamstring problems.

The Chargers expect WR Mike Williams to miss a "minimum" of 4 weeks with his high-ankle sprain, according to The Athletic's Daniel Popper. That's a typical timeline for this injury. Williams gets a Week 8 bye but figures to miss at least the next 3 games vs. the Falcons, 49ers and Chiefs. We'd still try to keep him stashed on fantasy benches as a late-season asset. Williams' absence will leave Keenan Allen, Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter as Los Angeles' top 3 WRs.

Chargers WR Joshua Palmer (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game vs. the Seahawks. He’ll get a Week 8 bye to hopefully clear concussion protocol.

Chargers WR Josh Palmer (concussion) missed practice again on Thursday. He's now a long shot to be cleared in time for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks.

Chargers WR Joshua Palmer is in concussion protocol and didn't practice on Wednesday. So his status for this weekend's game vs. the Seahawks is now in doubt. With WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) also iffy, the Chargers might be down to WRs DeAndre Carter, Michael Bandy and Jason Moore behind Mike Williams.

7:11pm EDT 10/17/22

As expected, Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) is inactive for tonight's game vs. the Broncos. He was listed as doubtful, but he got in 3 limited practices this week and is targeting a return this Sunday vs. the Seahawks. Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter get another game as Los Angeles' #2 and #3 WRs, respectively.

The Chargers list WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) as doubtful for Monday night's game vs. the Broncos. Allen said earlier today that he's not planning on playing against Denver and is targeting a Week 7 return. We'll track his status next week. Josh Palmer and DeAndre Carter will again serve as Los Angeles' #2 and #3 WRs on Monday.

ESPN’s Lindsay Thiry reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) doesn’t expect to play Monday night against the Broncos. She adds that he’s “targeting” Week 7 for a return from the issue that has dogged him since the opener. We’ll continue tracking Allen’s status

Chargers WR Mike Williams drew 13 targets in Sunday's win over the Browns. That marked a 38.2% share of Justin Herbert pass attempts. He turned them into 10 catches for 134 yards. Williams' numbers topped his nearest teammates by 7 targets, 6 receptions and 101 yards. WR Keenan Allen remained out with his hamstring injury. That left WR Joshua Palmer to rank 2nd with 6 targets. DeAndre Carter slipped back to 3rd in playing time among Chargers wideouts and drew only 2 looks.

11:40am EDT 10/9/22

Chargers WR Joshua Palmer (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Browns. He was limited in practice all week after seeing his snaps scaled back in last Sunday’s win over the Texans. That leaves Palmer as a risky Week 5 fantasy play.

Chargers WR Joshua Palmer (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. He managed limited practices all week. We'll check his status Sunday morning. If Palmer's good to go, then Keenan Allen's continued absence -- he'll miss a 3rd straight game with his hamstring injury -- leaves room for plenty of upside. If Palmer can't go or is limited, then DeAndre Carter will be worth a look in deep leagues and DFS formats.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Texans. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 5. Allen's absence keeps Josh Palmer in the WR3 mix for another week.

Chargers WR Mike Williams caught a 15-yard TD in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's loss to the Jaguars. And that marked his only reception among 6 targets. With WR Keenan Allen out (hamstring), Williams tied for just 3rd in looks behind WR Joshua Palmer (9) and RB Austin Ekeler (8). TE Gerald Everett joined him at 6. QB Justin Herbert -- playing through a rib injury -- completed just 55.6% of his passes. Palmer caught 6 balls and led the team with 99 receiving yards. Everett managed just 2 receptions for 25 yards.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game vs. the Jaguars. Like QB Justin Herbert, Allen went from limited practices on Wednesday and Thursday to no practice on Friday. HC Brandon Staley on Friday afternoon labeled Allen "50/50" to play against Jacksonville. We'll look for further updates on his status, but this game doesn't kick off until 4:05 pm ET on Sunday.

Chargers WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) is out for Thursday night's game vs. the Chiefs. His injury isn't believed to be serious, but he was always unlikely to play on the short week. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 3. Allen's absence will push Josh Palmer onto the field in 2-WR sets and puts him on the WR3/Flex radar.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Chargers WR Keenan Allen's hamstring injury is not expected to be a "long-term" deal. But Pelissero confirms that Allen is "unlikely" to be ready for Thursday night's showdown with the Chiefs. That's obviously a big loss for the Chargers but frees up targets for Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, Josh Palmer and Gerald Everett. See where all those guys sit in the Week 2 Rankings.
