Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Steelers QB Justin Fields managed only 145 passing yards in Sunday's blowout win over Las Vegas. But he delivered for fantasy managers with 59 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.
With RB Brian Robinson out with his knee injury, Austin Ekeler operated as Washington's lead back in the Week 6 loss to the Ravens. He played 75% of the offensive snaps and ran a route on 63% of pass plays -- well ahead of Jeremy McNichols (37%, 33%). Ekeler finished with nine carries and five targets to McNichols' two carries and zero targets. Ekeler predictably struggled on the ground against a stout Baltimore run defense, mustering just 21 rushing yards. But he caught four of his five targets for 47 yards, highlighted by a 25-yard catch and run on Washington's first possession.
Ravens WR Zay Flowers snagged 9 balls for 132 yards in Sunday’s win over Washington. All of Flowers’ production surfaced in the first half, as Lamar Jackson attempted only seven passes in the second half.
Ravens TE Mark Andrews was on the receiving end of QB Lamar Jackson's only passing TD in the Week 6 win over the Commanders. Jackson threw a high ball away from the defender, and Andrews made a leaping, contorting grab in the end zone for the 13-yard score. He also had 15- and 38-yard receptions in this one, finishing with a 3-66-1 receiving line on four targets. The missed connection went off Andrews' hands and was intercepted by Washington CB Mike Sainristil.
Eagles QB Jalen Hurts threw for 264 yards and 2 TDs in Sunday's win over the Browns. That -- plus 33 yards rushing -- was enough to rank him sixth among Week 6 fantasy QBs heading into the Sunday night game.
Patriots WR Demario Douglas has played almost exclusively in three-WR sets so far this season. But HC Jerod Mayo said after the Week 6 loss to the Texans that he'll "absolutely" consider playing Douglas in two-WR sets going forward. "He’s one of our best receivers, he can get open against anyone," Mayo added. Douglas was easily New England's most productive receiver vs. Houston, leading the team with nine targets, six catches, and 92 yards. He's now seen exactly nine targets in three of the last four games. More playing time would only boost his weekly fantasy floor and ceiling. Douglas is worth adding this week in fantasy leagues of 12+ teams.
Commanders Edge Dorance Armstrong left Sunday's loss to the Ravens early with a rib injury and did not return. We'll watch for details on his status ahead of a Week 7 home date with the Panthers.
Browns TE David Njoku drew a team-high 7 targets in Sunday's loss to the Eagles. That accounted for 30.4% of QB Deshaun Watson's total attempts. Njoku also led the team with 5 receptions but tallied just 31 yards.
Bengals RB Chase Brown (quad) is active for tonight's game vs. the Giants. He was listed as questionable but never seemed to be in danger of missing this one. Brown figures to continue splitting backfield work with Zack Moss tonight.
Lions Edge Aidan Hutchinson left in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Cowboys after suffering a serious left leg injury. Replay pretty clearly shows a fracture in the lower leg. We'll see about the damage beyond that. But it seems pretty safe to assume Hutchinson will miss the rest of the season.
Browns QB Deshaun Watson was less terrible than previous weeks in Sunday's loss to the Eagles but continued his run of lackluster production. He went a solid 16-of-23 passing (69.6% completions) at 7.3 yards per pass attempt. But his 168 passing yards marked a sixth straight game south of 200. And he boosted another struggling opponent pass rush.
Broncos CB Pat Surtain II left Sunday's game agains the Chargers with a concussion. He entered the week outside the top 70 DBs in fantasy points per game, so there's not much IDP impact here. But missing their lead corner obviously hurts a Denver team D that has ranked among the best in fantasy so far. His absence would help Saints WRs in their Week 7 matchup if Surtain remains out. Of course, Chris Olave sustained a concussion Sunday as well. We'll see about both situations as the week goes on.
RB Jerome Ford left Sunday's loss at Philadelphia early. That left the backfield to Pierre Strong and D'Onta Foreman. Strong trailed Foreman 10-8 in carries but beat his teammate in rushing yards: 43 to 31. Strong also ran 17 pass routes vs. Foreman's six but edge him by just one target (3-2). Strong took 2 receptions for 35 yards. Foreman caught both of his targets for 16 yards.
Bears CB Kyler Gordon left Sunday's win over the Jaguars early with a hamstring injury and was ruled out before the end. He gets a Week 7 bye to heal up. We'll watch for details on his expected return timeline.
Titans QB Will Levis completed 16 of 27 passes for 95 yards and a TD. He also threw an interception late in the game. It was another disappointing performance for Levis.
Titans RB Tony Pollard performed for fantasy managers again this week. He rushed 17 times for 93 yards and a TD. He also caught three passes for -5 yards. Pollard handled 71% of the Titans RB touches. He also sprung a huge impact block in the game.
Colts WR Josh Downs caught 7 of 9 targets for 66 yards and a TD. With QB Joe Flacco getting the start, Downs put up another solid fantasy performance.
Commanders DT Jonathan Allen left Sunday's loss to the Ravens with a pectoral injury. He was ruled out before the end of the game, which doesn't seem like a good sign for his return timeline. We'll watch for further details. Phidarian Mathis and second-round rookie Jer'Zhan Newton entered the day third and fourth in playing time among Washington DTs.
Patriots RB Antonio Gibson did not perform as the starter replacing RB Rhamondre Stevenson. Gibson rushed the ball 13 times for 19 yards. He caught three passes for 24 yards as well. Stevenson may be back for the Patriots next game.
Texans RB Joe Mixon returned from his ankle injury with a big game rushing 13 times for 102 yards and a TD. He also caught 2 of 3 targets for 30 yards including a second TD. Mixon took 13 of the 25 RB touches in the game due to the blowout
