Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy says doctors have cleared QB Dak Prescott (thumb) to play, according to NFL Network's Jane Slater. The team plans for Prescott to throw 40-50 passes at Thursday's practice, and the QB appears on track to return Sunday against the Lions.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook posted 77 yards and 1 score on 13 carries against the Dolphins in Week 6. The light workload was due in part to the Vikings running only 50 plays. Cook nearly busted, too, before he broke off a 53-yard TD run late in the 4th quarter. The veteran has now recorded 76+ rushing yards in 5 of 6 games this season. Just note that his receiving role remains light, as he garnered only 1 target. Cook owns only 5 catches over the past month. Next up is a Week 7 bye.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thimb) told the media after Sunday night's loss to the Eagles that he plans to return for Week 7. Prescott has another doctor visit this week to check on the status on that injured thumb, but the expectation is that he'll be ready for a full practice on Wednesday. We'll track his participation throughout the week.

Cowboys rookie TE Jake Ferguson caught 4 of 6 targets for 40 yards and the team's lone passing TD in Sunday night's loss to the Eagles. He checked in 3rd in targets, with TE Peyton Hendershot drawing another 5 and TE Sean McKeon 1 as well. WR CeeDee Lamb led Dallas with 10 targets, catching 5 for 68 yards. WR Michael Gallup ranked 2nd, putting up a 2-18 receiving line on his 7 looks. QB Cooper Rush attempted a season-high 38 passes but completed only 18 (47.4%) for 181 yards and 1 TD. He also threw 3 INTs.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (hip) is active for tonight’s game vs. the Eagles. He was held out of Friday’s practice and listed as questionable, but we never heard much concern about his status for this one. Lamb is safe to get into fantasy lineups if you were waiting on him.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) is inactive for tonight’s game vs. the Eagles. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that Prescott “still must improve to be ready to practice" this coming Wednesday. It sounds like he’s not a lock to be ready for Week 7. QB Cooper Rush gets another start tonight.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport says there's a "good chance" Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) returns for Week 7. "He's really progressing well," Rapoport adds. "He's as close as he's been ... But it is not a sure thing [he plays Week 7.] He still needs to work on grip and grip strength." We'll keep a close eye on Prescott's practice participation this coming week.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (hip) is expected to play against the Eagles tonight, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That's been the word from Cowboys camp throughout the week, as Lamb has dealt with some seemingly minor injuries. Check our Week 6 rankings to see whether he belongs in your fantasy football lineups.

Though he's listed as questionable for the Sunday night game against the Eagles, Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) won't play, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. He adds that the QB "still must improve to be ready to practice" Wednesday. We'll continue to track Prescott's progress. Cooper Rush gets his 5th straight start.

The Cowboys list QB Dak Prescott (thumb) as questionable for Sunday night’s game vs. the Eagles. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. We’re still expecting QB Cooper Rush to get the start this weekend, but we’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation.

The Cowboys added WR CeeDee Lamb to the injury report Friday with a hip issue that kept him out of Friday's practice. He's questionable for Sunday night's game against the Eagles. The team doesn't sound worried, though. "He's just working through a couple things there," VP Stephen Jones said, according to The Athletic's Jon Machota. "Just felt like it was best for him not to practice today. We feel like he'll get all that sorted out for the game." We'll certainly keep an eye on Lamb, but it sounds like we should expect him to play.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott (thumb) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice. It's his 1st official practice since going down in the season opener. We're still not expecting Prescott to play vs. the Eagles on Sunday night, but a Week 7 return looks doable.

Cowboys LB Micah Parsons missed practice Wednesday with a groin injury, but he told reporters there's "no question" he'll play Sunday against the Eagles, according to multiple reports. Parsons played through groin tightness in the 2nd half of Sunday's win over the Rams. We'll track his progress this week to make sure he's ready.

Cowboys HC Mike McCarthy said Wednesday that he's preparing for QB Cooper Rush to start Sunday night's game vs. the Eagles. QB Dak Prescott (thumb) is expected to throw off to the side of Wednesday's practice but is still in the “medical, rehab phase," McCarthy said. We'll see if Prescott can make it back for Week 7.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb posted a mediocre 5-53 receiving line on 8 targets in Sunday's win over the Rams. Those 8 targets marked a 50% share of Cooper Rush's 16 attempts, though. WR Michael Gallup checked in 2nd with 5 targets (31.3%). WR Noah Brown (2) and TE Dalton Schultz (1, left early) were the only other Dallas players to get any looks. Lamb has been targeted on 34% of Dallas pass attempts for the season. Once Dak Prescott is back to full health, Lamb could be a fantasy football difference-maker the rest of the way.

Texans WR Brandin Cooks saw just 6 targets and caught 4 balls for 20 yards in Sunday's win over the Texans. The 6 looks did constitute 25% of Davis Mills' 24 attempts for the game. Cooks' biggest issue was Houston going run heavy (31 rushing attempts vs. 25 dropbacks). WR Nico Collins matched Cooks in targets and receptions, gaining 65 yards on his 4 catches. A Week 6 bye will be followed by a visit to the Raiders and then a home date with the Titans.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook assumed his usual rushing lead in Sunday's win over the Bears, racking up 18-94-2 on the ground to make fantasy football managers happy. But Alexander Mattison siphoned receiving opportunities for the 2nd straight week. Mattison drew 4 targets to Cook's 2, compared with the 18-9 carry split in Cook's favor. And Mattison actually ran 2 more routes than Cook this time after merely drawing close to Cook in that category in Week 4. This won't be a big issue as long as Minnesota wins but could cut into Cook's fantasy production when the Vikings trail. We'll watch to see if Minnesota alters the plan here as Cook moves further beyond his shoulder injury -- or if there's just a preference to get Mattison more involved with the passing game.

3:00pm EDT 10/9/22

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (groin) is active for today’s game vs. the Rams. He sat out Thursday’s practice but returned to a limited workout on Friday. There have been no reports about Lamb being limited today, so we’d keep him in fantasy lineups.

Cowboys WR CeeDee Lamb (groin) is expected to play vs. the Rams this afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Lamb was sidelined on Thursday before returning to a limited practice on Friday. That adds some risk to his Week 5 fantasy profile, but there's still plenty of upside vs. a Rams defense that's struggled against the pass early this season.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Cowboys QB Dak Prescott is a "long shot" to return for the Week 6 game against the Eagles. Prescott would reportedly need to make "significant strides" early this week to have a chance to play in that game. The original return timeline from his thumb surgery was 4-6 weeks. Today marks 4 weeks since the initial injury. We'll keep watching for updates on Prescott's return. For now, expect Cooper Rush to remain the starter through at least Week 6.
