Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.
Bears QB Justin Fields completed 15 of 21 pass attempts for 208 yards and a TD in Sunday's loss to the Vikings. He took a mere 2 sacks and avoided turning the ball over. (Fields did fumble twice, but Chicago recovered both.) The QB added 47 rushing yards on 8 attempts. It's not enough to make him attractive for Week 6 fantasy use. But it's a positive compared with what else we've gotten from the Bears' offense so far.
Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth sustained a concussion in the 2nd half of Sunday's game vs. the Bills. We'll track his progress through the protocol this coming week.
Eagles RB Boston Scott (rib) is inactive for today’s game vs. the Cardinals. That should mean a few extra touches for RB Miles Sanders.
Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt recently arthroscopic surgery on his left knee to address an issue that has lingered since August. ESPN reports that operation is expected to delay Watt's return another week or 2. He was already on IR for a pectoral injury, with a potential Week 8 return. Pittsburgh has a Week 9 bye, which might have motivated the surgery's timing. Week 10 vs. New Orleans looks like the new target date. We'll see about Watt's status as that draws closer.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right shoulder on Friday "in hopes of relieving discomfort," according to NFL Network. Wilson is reportedly dealing with a strained latissimus dorsi -- a similar injury to the one that sidelined Cowboys QB Dak Prescott for most of training camp last year. Per the report from Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the injury is not usually treated with an injection. Wilson plans on playing when the Broncos return to action next Monday night vs. the Chargers. We'll keep a close eye on him this coming week.
Steelers S Terrell Edmunds (concussion) and CB Cameron Sutton (groin, hamstring) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) has been ruled out. S Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee), DL Cameron Heyward (elbow, ankle) and CB Levi Wallace (foot) are off the final injury report.
Eagles RB Boston Scott (rib) was limited in practice all week and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game vs. the Cardinals. He’s not on the fantasy radar, but his absence would be a slight boost for RB Miles Sanders.
Eagles RB Boston Scott (rib) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. We'll see if he's able to return for this weekend's game vs. Arizona. With Scott out last week, RB Miles Sanders set season highs with a 67% snap rate and 27 carries.
Broncos QB Russell Wilson has been removed from the injury report for Thursday night's game against the Colts. He said earlier in the week that his right-shoulder issue wouldn't inhibit his availability, and it appears Wilson will be a full go.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Broncos QB Russell Wilson is "dealing with a little bit of tendonitis in his throwing shoulder." Wilson has been limited in practice so far this week, ahead of Thursday night's game vs. the Colts. "Doesn't seem like this is a major issue," Rapoport adds. "I'd characterize it as just something to watch."
Broncos QB Russell Wilson showed some signs of life in Sunday's loss to Vegas, tossing 2 TDs and completing 17-of-25 passes for 237 yards. Obviously, the pass volume (and yardage) isn’t ideal. But the boosted efficiency is nice, and it’s encouraging to see him hitting top targets Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy for scores. Wilson was Pro Football Focus’ 23rd graded QB over the first 3 weeks but jumped up to 4th in Week 4. The loss of Javonte Williams (torn ACL) could push this unit more towards the pass going forward — especially if their run defense doesn’t improve. Wilson belongs in the QB1 conversation for a Thursday night home game vs. Indianapolis.
The Falcons are placing RB Cordarrelle Patterson on IR with a designation to return. According to multiple reports, Patterson had a "procedure" Monday morning. We're assuming it addressed the left knee that had him questionable entering Sunday and limited his touches against Cleveland. Patterson will miss at least the next 4 games, leaving the backfield to rookie Tyler Allgeier, Caleb Huntley and Avery Williams. Damien Williams figures to be in the mix as well if he makes it back from his IR stint for a rib injury. There's no exciting option in this group, but we'd bet on Allgeier as the most productive. A Week 5 meeting with Tampa Bay likely won't prove as favorable as it looked to Chiefs RBs on Sunday night.
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson played just 16 snaps (29%) in the Week 4 win over the Browns. His 9 carries ranked 3rd on the team, behind RBs Tyler Allgeier and Caleb Huntley with 10 apiece. Patterson wasn't targeted in the passing game. He salvaged his fantasy day with a 13-yard TD but finished with just 38 total yards. Patterson entered this game questionable with a knee issue, which might explain why his snaps were scaled back. But it's also possible that the Falcons want to keep him limited going forward after Patterson wore down late last season.
Chargers WR Mike Williams caught 7 balls for 120 yards amid 11 targets in Sunday's win over the Texans. He drew 28.2% target share, with WR Keenan Allen still out. RB Austin Ekeler checked in 2nd with 7 targets. TE Gerald Everett was the only other Charger to see more than 3 looks. He finished with a 5-61-1 line on 6 targets.
Steelers S Terrell Edmunds suffered a concussion in Sunday's loss to the Jets. We'll see how quickly he proceeds through the league protocol.
Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick came away from Sunday's loss to the Jets with a knee injury. HC Mike Tomlin said afterward that he expected to have more info on the injury Monday.
Steelers DL Cameron Heyward left Sunday's loss to the Jets with elbow and ankle injuries. HC Mike Tomlin said after the game he didn't have much info yet. We'll see what Monday reveals about Heyward's injuries.
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) is active for today’s game vs. the Browns. He reportedly had to test that knee in warmups before getting the green light, so it’s safe to assume that Patterson won’t be anywhere close to 100% for this one. See where he sits in the Week 4 RB Rankings.
Falcons RB Cordarrelle Patterson (knee) "plans to play" vs. the Browns today but won't know for sure until he tests that knee in pregame warmups, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. We'll get Atlanta's inactives around 11:30 am ET. But it's safe to say that Patterson won't be anywhere close to 100% if he does give it a go.
Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick has cleared the league's concussion protocol and will play Sunday against the Jets. CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) is out for the game.
