Fantasy Football News & Latest NFL Updates

Shark Bites are the latest fantasy football news & NFL updates. Draft Sharks has been in business since 1999. And when we started, redraft was the dominant form of fantasy football. Check out what we've learned about this most basic form of fantasy football along the way.

Lions HC Dan Campbell confirmed on Friday that RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) is on track to play vs. the Ravens this weekend. And Campbell is planning on Gibbs playing a big role, despite coming off a multi-week hamstring injury. "I'd like to say we’re going to be careful with him, but the reality is we need him," Campbell said. Gibbs handled 17 carries and two targets on a 60% snap rate with RB David Montgomery out back in Week 3. It sounds like he's in for a similar workload on Sunday.

Bills RB Damien Harris (neck, concussion) is out for Sunday's game vs. the Patriots. He's averaged 4.4 carries in five healthy games this season. Expect most of that work to go to RB Latavius Murray this weekend, putting him on the RB3 radar.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth reinjured his hamstring in Thursday's practice, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. Freiermuth will miss this weekend's game vs. the Rams and "likely will be sidelined longer," per Pelissero. Freiermuth can be dropped in shallower fantasy leagues. His absence is good news for WRs Diontae Johnson and George Pickens' target shares.

Bears QB Justin Fields is not planning to have surgery on his injured thumb, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "The key to when he can get back on the field is when he's able to grip the football," Rapoport adds. Surgery would have had Fields out for an extended period of time, so this is good news, even if we don't have a firm timetable for Fields' return. He's worth keeping stashed in most fantasy leagues.

Seahawks WR D.K. Metcalf (ribs, hip) missed his second straight practice on Thursday. The team has been managing his practice reps due to the rib injury, so it's tough to know how big a concern the new hip injury is. Check back tomorrow for another update on Metcalf's status for Sunday's game vs. the Cardinals.

Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (hamstring) remained sidelined on Thursday. The rookie is in legitimate danger of missing this weekend's game vs. the Cardinals. That'd mean even more work for RB Ken Walker in this plus matchup. Check back tomorrow for another update on Charbonnet.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) went from a full practice on Wednesday to a limited practice on Thursday. It's unclear if this is part of a maintenance plan, or if Freiermuth suffered a setback with that hammy. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Saints LB Demario Davis (knee) and S Tyrann Mathieu (foot) are active for tonight's game aginst the Jaguars. We moved Davis down the Week 7 LB rankings for his knee risk, though, given that it was bad enough to make him a game-time decision. Mathieu managed limited practices throughout the short week and seems fine for his normal level of IDP use.

Saints RB Jamaal Williams (hamstring) is active for tonight's game against the Jaguars. He put in limited practices all week, coming off four games on IR. Try to avoid using Williams in fantasy lineups. His return figures to marginalize rookie Kendre Miller, at least early on. We're still easily playing Alvin Kamara in most cases, though.

Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (knee) is active for tonight's game against the Saints. Lawrence has said all along he planned to play in this game. He does sit outside our top 12 QBs in the Week 7 rankings, through -- which is especially noteworthy given that a season-high six teams are on bye.

Lions RB Craig Reynolds (hamstring, toe) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. That should put him on track to play vs. the Ravens this weekend, but we'll get another update on his status tomorrow. RB Jahmyr Gibbs (hamstring) remained limited on Thursday. He's expected to play this weekend.

Niners LB Dre Greenlaw isn't practicing Thursday because of the hamstring injury that kept him out of Week 6. HC Kyle Shanahan called him day to day, according to The Athletic's Matt Barrows. We'll watch for progress ahead of Monday night's game against the Vikings.

Eagles WR DeVonta Smith (hamstring) returned to practice on Thursday and said he'll play vs. the Dolphins on Sunday night. "You ain’t gotta worry bout me. I’ll be out there," Smith said, per The Philadelphia Inquirer's Josh Tolentino. We'll keep an eye on Smith over the next couple of days, but he can stay penciled into Week 7 fantasy lineups.

Saints LB Demario Davis is a game-time decision tonight against the Jaguars. He has missed practice this week with a knee injury despite not missing a single snap of Sunday's game against the Texans. We've knocked Davis down the Week 7 LB rankings and view him as risky even if he does play. If he can't go, journeyman Jaylon Smith would start in his place, according to Jeff Duncan of NOLA.com. We also gave Pete Werner a boost in the Week 7 rankings.

49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) will not practice on Thursday, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Shanahan labeled Samuel "day-to-day," which seemingly means he has a chance to play vs. the Vikings on Monday night. Check back tomorrow for another update on Samuel.

49ers RB Christian McCaffrey won't practice on Thursday, HC Kyle Shanahan said. Shanahan called McCaffrey "day-to-day" with an oblique injury, but not a rib injury. That seemingly helps his chances of playing vs. the Vikings on Monday night. We'll get another update on McCaffrey tomorrow.

Browns RB Kareem Hunt (thigh) returned to a limited practice on Thursday. He should be available for this weekend's game vs. the Colts, but we'll see how he's listed on Friday's final injury report.

Bears RB Roschon Johnson (concussion) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He's now a long shot to be cleared ahead of Sunday's game vs. the Raiders. Johnson's absence will leave Chicago's backfield to RBs D'Onta Foreman, Darrynton Evans, and Travis Homer, who is set to return from his hamstring injury. Foreman is the best fantasy bet but is an unexciting RB3 or flex play.

Bills QB Josh Allen (shoulder) was upgraded to full participation in Thursday's practice. It's confirmation that he'll be out there for this weekend's game vs. the Patriots. And it doesn't look like the shoulder will be an issue.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Raiders QB Jimmy Garoppolo (back) will not play vs. the Bears on Sunday. There's been no timetable given for Garoppolo's return. It's also unclear who will get the start at QB for Vegas this weekend. Rookie QB Aidan O'Connell got the nod when Garoppolo missed Week 4, struggling to 238 yards passing on 6.1 yards per attempt. Veteran QB Brian Hoyer replaced Garoppolo this past week, going 6-of-10 for 102 yards, 0 TDs, and 0 INTs. Neither guy should be in your Week 7 fantasy plans.
